Was away so missed the F1 Time Trial at Monza - shame as I heard that was fun. Gave the Ionic 5 TT a try and hated how the car handles, so decided to skip that as well.

That marks a perfect opportunity for me to jump into the new 911 GT1 TT early, and it was huge FUN. The car drove well on RH, perfect balance between grip/aero/power. It also sounded great with the Flat 6 and all sort of Turbo sound going on. Never raced on the track but got the hang of it fairly quickly and just managed to dip into 1:53's. Did leave sometime on the table especially in sector 2.

Glad I was also able to pick a livery that has some sentimental value to me - it is my favourite livery from a very old PC Racing game (Sports Car GT) when I was a kid and I am so thrilled to be able to race in this livery after 20+ years! The real car (Porsche 911 GT1 chassis #108) worn this livery in 1997 IMSA GT season and captured 2 Poles and 4 wins).

Superb classic livery!

@KK78 That is one awesome livery, I'll be running it for sure.... nice one!

If it's the same car, which I think it must be, I know the guy who owns it although maybe not for long as it is for sale and maybe sadly has been returned to a former livery!

That's a great livery, I might have a go at replicating it

Very smooth lap mon ami,
Looks very steady!

What a car it is huh! 🥰

I had two problem corners this morning.....
A: the long righthander around 1:08 ....remains a complete mystery to me.... if I blink and am to wide it understeers to Venus but if you clip the curb on the inside you oversteer to Mars .....🤣🤣

And the left hander going up in 4th before the last chicane...... killing.....🤣🤣

Great job buddy, solid gold already on your first try! 🙏
Thanks a lot my dear Jomar !!!!
I also want to congratulate you because you have had an incredible cruising speed for several months and we can't stop you anymore !!!!:bowdown:
I really didn't like the TT at Monza at all. These F1 cars or others are not made for me. 🤮🤮
I have a lot more fun in these cars like the Porsche.
I looked at your trick and I think you can still do better. Particularly this corner that you pass in 3rd before the last chicane. You can and you must pass it in 4th grade !!!! 💪💪💪
And after this long right curve is also a mystery to me. I can't understand how @Tidgney takes it so quickly !!! 🤔🤔

Was able to improve my time by 2 seconds which at least puts me firmly in Silver category. The best thing is even though the lap is just under the 2 minute mark in longetivity, it doesn't feel like a long lap. The car makes it so enjoyable.

On a sidenote, I drove this car with RM in the weekly races in the Hypercar race. The car felt like on rails Just love the Strassenversion.

@Lomic you are a very consistent driver and, dare I say, maybe a bit too careful.

My line chart looks like the Himalayas by comparison. Go on my friend, throw caution to the wind, a few red laps isn't going to hurt! 😂
So consistent that all my best sectors are separated on one lap each 😅

I'll take risks when I'll be able to tie all my best sectors in one lap 😁

Well....I golded the new TT. Low 1:55s I think....

I don't think I had ever driven on this track other than the circuit experience. Can't really place my finger on it, but I just don't find this track particularly fun to drive 🤔
This track gives me similar feeling to Kyoto's track characteristics (similar to the one used in Hypercar race in weekly challenge). The lap is long, twisty & it's important to learn the track layout thoroughly as it's technical.

@Lomic Wait, what? Your aim is to have all the best sectors of a ten lap stint in a single lap? Why?
To reach my optimal ???

And if I am able to do that, it'll mean I have improved.

If I remain so inconsistent that all my best sectors are everywhere except in the same lap, I'll never get the best time possible.

Optimal in the game don't quite work like that because they aren't stored between sessions.

The optimal shown is only relevant to the last session.

True but you can also improve without reaching the optimal. I can probably count on three fingers the times my PB was equal to my optimal (well technically that's not true because I often do one or two lap "stints", but you get my point). But if that works for you, that's great of course! 🔥
If I remain so inconsistent that all my best sectors are everywhere except in the same lap, I'll never get the best time possible.
To me the optimal is just the dangling carrot the game puts in front of me so I continue pushing, but I'm perfectly at peace with never getting there (well technically that's not true either :D). Just to put this to the test, would you apply this approach to a track like the Nordschleife as well? My 11 fastest sectors all in a single lap sounds utterly impossible to me.

Edit: also one more thing, sorry ;) I would even argue that having your fastest sectors spread across the stint is the very definition of consistency. Because the other extreme is a miracle lap where all the stars suddenly align and you have a huge spike in your performance graph.

I sent a couple of pictures of your livery to the guy who owns the car, he didn't respond yet. I also sent them to my friend who has the car up for sale and put it back into it's original livery - he replied and sent a few pictures and an in car video...

"That’s cool as ****, shame it’s not in that livery anymore, we changed it to Marlboro when we made it road legal. All good here thanks mate, how you doing?"

I believe in miracles !!

But I see your point, and as I don't run the TTs as much as many people here, I am fine with a miracle lap where for once I don't butcher each odd sectors (when in previous laps, I butchered the even sectors).

And as I am not driving that much, reaching yesterday's optimal is rarely a miracle, just progress, and I have a new optimal.

Yeah exactly, the carrot keeps moving with you :)

I just read your original message as if you only consider a stint successful or indicative of progress if the fastest lap of the stint equals or comes close to the optimal of that same stint. Got it now.

@Jules_r That's fantastic, such a cool car, I'll knock up a design for that livery although I suspect some of the sponsors will be unavailable on the livery editor as they seem a bit obscure.

So on to the Nurb, watched Tidgney's lap, did 6 laps and got into Gold. I'm torn with this one, on the one hand, it's a pleasant Sunday drive but on the other, it has the stopping propensity of an oil tanker and once more confirms why I'd never own an electric car. I hope this time holds because I have a date with a Porsche in France.

Got in a 2nd stint at Alsace last night, and just now found time to post about it. Very happy to break into the 54s. I think I'm already very close to my limit on this TT, but I'm enjoying it so I'll probably push a little more.

Tried the Ionic and didn't care for it so I may skip that one unless I get bored this weekend. I think it will only frustrate me.

Nice run on Alsace @Gomario JSP !! I'm looking up at you and @A_Higher_Place the alien on my leaderboard.

Man I love this car ...

... and if I'm reading the signs right, I think it might be mutual!

Not only am I in the top 100 for now (which makes it two out of two, never had that before!), but getting there was, at the risk of sounding cocky, almost ... easy. Not in the sense that I could casually phone in a lap while chatting with the wife. It commanded full concentration. But so far there was none of the usual grinding, countless invalidated laps, swearing at lottery corners etc. Just smooth and steady progression.

Did I mention that I love this car? Because I do! I really do! ❤️

Happy Valentine's Day lapping, folks!

@eggmann Small disclaimer perhaps: at this point I just use CSA strong as a default for everything. I like how it feels, and I'm convinced it doesn't slow me down, but I couldn't even tell you if it brings any advantage here. Similar for TCS: if I do spin out on corner exit a couple of times, I usually just take the easy route and select TCS 1 or 2 because, in my experience, it comes with only a minimal penalty if I'm not over-relying on it, and lets me focus on other aspects such as the line more. Some people might argue that I'm teaching myself bad habits this way, and these people are probably right ... but I'm just lazy, what can I do ;)

I took the day off from GT yesterday. Sometimes you just need a break. :) I debated tonight whether I wanted to try out the new TT. I like the car, but I'm one of those that's never really enjoyed Alsace. I couldn't really tell you why. At least the Porsche makes it tolerable. Anyway, I had pretty good 1st sector on my fast lap but gave up a tenth in sector 2 and nearly the rest of my advantage in the final sector. :grumpy:
