Small improvements :)

Hello folks - feel like it’s been forever, but only was last weekend. Work dominates everything currently so really no time in the week to get some laps in other than some very early morning on rare occasions.

Very pleased with my result in the F3500 given the size of the competing field - not my best position but was within a few thousandths of my optimal.

I’m steering clear of the Nurburgring event, but was excited by the prospect of the Porsche at Alsace. I’ve not done anything other than a couple of offline events here, so feel like I’m learning an entirely new track. Not sure how many of you are old enough to remember the Porsche Challenge game, but this track has some similarities to Weissach - less of a race track, more of a proving ground. Some lovely period liveries for this car as well as noted by others, but for now I’m running an excellent Tuthill GT1 theme (not created by me).

Thanks to @Tidgney and @Metalgear9493 for the epically fast replays - I’m nowhere near them on lap time but have realized that following a slower ghost is a false economy as I’m just learning someone else’s bad habits and poor execution.

This is where I am after 150 miles or so in the car. Feel like I’m pretty close to my limit, but there is likely time once I work out the correct ratio of brake vs. coast in a couple of turns. Image is of the correct lap time from yesterday, but I’ve dropped over 100 places since then.

@skydragon49 Thanks for sharing and all the best buddy! And I hope to see you return sooner rather than later. I might be wrong, but it seems to me that having a constant in your life that brings you joy (even if it's something as silly as a video game) can't be a bad thing.
Thank you, I definitely think I got the TT bug back 😅

I'm itching to get that alien badge 😂
Great to hear. Just one more tenth will probably do the trick ;)

As for myself, I wanted to make extra sure the top 100 is secured (and perhaps even improve on my highest ranking of 77). And it looks like I might have succeeded 😜

I have to say it took some discipline to engage with the I5N again because while I don't think it's a bad drive, the GT1 is just so much more enjoyable. But in the end it was worth it. I wouldn't have minded to find 4 extra milliseconds, but it is what it is @Gomario JSP 😄

Now back to Alsace ...

Guys, I've been participating long enough in this thread to somehow get the feeling that I know you people, even though we are "just" strangers spread around the world playing the same game the connection is there.

I thought I should share my current situation as I leave and take a time off from the game.

Sorry for the off topic, but sharing also helps a lot in my current state of mind.
Hi mate

Sorry to hear you are going through this! As @crome says, maybe time trialling isn’t the worst thing you can do during a time like this (even if it feels wrong, it’s probably doing you good). Having control over something when other things are out of your control can really help. But if not, don’t be a stranger and hopefully see you soon.

I had two more session at NBR sprint today, it’s not my favourite trial but I think this could be one of those where I have the pace to challenge world top 10…. But sadly not the time, so this is probably my final PB. I was over a tenth of a second down on my best in S1 so hypothetically I was looking at a low 1:36.2xx but hey ho! Was a fun trial for the day, my guess is that the Strassenversion will be a much tougher nut to crack so I really need to focus my attention on that now 😁

@skydragon49 Hey, I read your whole message and I'm sorry you're going through this. I know what it feels like to lose an important family member. Well I hope you recover from this and maybe later in the future, you'll get back to time trialing with us and this awesome supportive community. Take care mate.

Put in a few sessions with the Ioniq 5N over the weekend, managed to break into the top 100 last night but probably not for long.
Its a shame, this car would actually be quite fun if it didn't have braking distances equivalent to a freight train and weigh the same as an aircraft carrier.

I find the Nurburgring GP track to be quite difficult, almost every corner is an understeer inducing, long sweeping corner requiring extreme patience to get on the power. This gets pretty exhausting on controller after a while, which isn't helped by having to press the boost button down all the time.

There is maybe a tenth and half left in the lap, particularly in S1 and through the chicane, but putting it all together into a lap will be challenging. May come back to this depending on how much time I have this week.

Great job mate, keep plugging at it and you'll wind up somewhere within the top 30 drivers times. That is if you have the patience to fight for it. For myself, I usually don't.

And if you end up running out of time, at least you got under the top 100.

I'm stuck a second off the current gold time. I don't feel bad in the car , I just cannot get it to rotate. The first long left hander, I watch replays and guys are so stable and are far enough tonthe left to be braking straight and shifting weight to to the right for the next turn but I always run wide unless I lift. I'm 4pc off the best time on the planet so hardly embarrassing but I'm just not finding that extra pace. I'd feel better if I was making mistakes but feel the laps are pretty clean.

Play around with assists to see if it helps. Ditto for sensitivity.

Sorry to hear your struggle, and it is always good to ventilate,
I'll react on the other thread ;)

Remember that better times will come with happiness 💛

Now back to Alsace ...
😂😂 this is too close for comfort , please let me win 1 of 2 timetrials this time 😂😂
But a very nice achievement buddy!, this competition is killing me 😂

#GTplanetTop100😁😂

For Alsace, i tried this morning with all i had, but didn't work as i wanted, must say i was a little off mentally but just couln't nail everything at ones, did have a minor improvement beeing in the .8 now, but missed the hairpin apex ( before the upper left in the end ) that did compromise my exit so lost something there, but all... not a bad lap!

@half_sourly you sneaky silent ..........😂
Nice work on Alsace 🙏

First of all, CONGRATS to all folks that managed to get Gold in Monza F3500 TT. You are very-very skilled!

In my case, the best lap I was able to do was 1.27.4 which was 0.5 sec off SILVER. Shame, but this is the real assessment of my current skills and experience.

I need some help and suggestions. Maybe you have an idea how I can improve.

Quick summary:
I started playing GT7 in Dec 2024. I do not have any experience with Sim racing or games in general. I used to have PS1 long-long time ago and now decided to get PS5 Pro because of GT7 and F1 games. F1 is disaster, GT7 is phenomenal!

I play with a controller. For F3500 Monza TT my first laps were on 1.32-1.31. I have improved quickly to low 1.29 and high 1.28. It too me longer to get below 1.28 and get 1.27.9. Then I just struggled with improving my lap time. I was able to get 1.27.4 and regularly be high 1.27, but I just have no idea what to do to get 1-2 sec faster.

My settings were: TC - 3, Auto Gearbox, gamepad sensitivity - 4. I tried multiple things and did follow a ghost but did not manage to improve.

Now the TT is over. I think I am able to just take F3500 to Monza and practice. I want to find a way to get to where Silver and Gold was.

Any practical suggestions and help you can give? Truly appreciate it!
I've played GT7 since January 2024, and GT3-GT4-GT5-GT6 before that. Probably thousands of hours since year 2003! I've never been close to gold in any online time trial in GT7. Sometimes like the last weeks not even silver! There's a chance that you won't become better. Regardless how much you practice. I thought a wheel would improve my bad times, but other players here say that they spent tens of hours on a wheel before getting better than on the gamepad. That I often is only top 50k-100k is not sad, but the game would be extremely much more fun if we could change all the rules in single player when we race against the AI.

What do you mean by changing the rules?

Today I started the Alsace TT with TC 2 for a change. I got more stability but my exit speed was lost. When I shifted back to TC 1, I felt confident enough as I was already in the rhythm. I was able to better my best time (1:55:9xx) three times in the space of 7 laps. Yesterday when I played the TT, I could only kind of match my previous best time. So every day is a new chance.

As f now, I've just sneaked into the Gold category but I'll be content with Silver at the end.

Hi folks

A few sessions in the Strassenversion are complete! I didn’t like it at first, I don’t really know Alsace too well and finding a fast line feels really difficult. Picking a gear too… especially in the final sector where it doesn’t seem like 4th just before the final hill is sensible but it just works…! Managed to get a decent PB with a few mistakes, I’m hoping I can revisit this next week before it ends as I was starting to enjoy it!

I’m off to Edinburgh for the week and beyond! Adios amigos and catch you next week 😎

Now that's the way to take the long righthander 🤣🤣 (at 1:05) yeezz you make it look easy ....I never have nailed it like this.....

Allthough i was hoping for a race car in the new TT, the GT1 is a nice toy to drive. Would have been even better on proper cup tires, but PD doesn't seem to listen to me!

My first stint ended up in a 1:55,73, so i had to go again.
This time i think it should be safe!

Once more i have to say a big thanks to @Tidgney for the tip with touching the brakes in the long right hander!

I had an optimal of 1:54,8, just in case the aliens do their thing again, there's still time to find ...

I'll see you up there then 🤣 well kind of, I'm off to Livingston on Wednesday working though 😔

Taking the PS4 with me so maybe one last attempt at the Ioniq, and at least I know you can't go pushing me back down the leaderboard if I get a new PB 🤣

Have fun

Made it to cut another 0.200 and now I'm into second from gold:

What do you think, can I reach gold here?

Yeah, definitely. Your S1 is easily gold material, but then you leave a lot of time on the table in S2. Try to take that left turn before the one minute mark closer to the inside curb, then accelerate out early in 4th to avoid wheel spin. Compare with how I take that turn (not my idea of course, I'm just trying to copy the WR ghost I am following as best as I can). That alone is probably 4 to 5 tenths I would guess.

Time went by fast... i didn't had much time to TT the last few weeks. I could only two 5 lap stints at Monza, one with pad and one with wheel. Pad was really frustrating... it would have been 7% or something like that at the end. Fortunatly the F3500A was much more manageable with wheel, so silver wasn't a problem. But gold was far away...

Well... Nürburgring with the Ioniq was "hard" at the beginning as well. Unfortunatly i haven't noticed that there is an overtake-button. @Tidgney mentioned it kindly in his guide. Thanks to my kids i haven't listened :D. I set a time 5 tenths away from gold and thought, that this will be an hard one to gold. But thanks to :gtplanet: / this thread i did my second stint with the overtake-button and managed to set a gold time after 6 laps. Both stints with pad.

Alsace! What a joyfull ride is the GT1 Straßenversion at Alsace. I'm not really good at it but I do like the track. The scenery... well i do like Alsace in realife as well and i do sometimes a daytrip over there (really nice little villages), it's less than 30km distance from here.
I already did 3 stints just with wheel. The GT1 is quite good manageable at TC1 for me and i'm learning with it to manage the throttle-input better.
I managed a 1.55.733 in second stint thursday evening. It was a gold-time in this moment. But i was quite shure, that this won't hold. And i had so much fun at it, that i would do further stints for shure.

Today i found time for another stint and i'm quite annoyed of myself. In lap 9 I was 7 tenth faster than my fastest stettet time 3 laps before (55.6) and threw it away by wheel-spinning in the left-hand-corner before the hill :banghead: A few laps I set a save gold at 55.4 but i will have at least another go. A sub 55 is possible.

Thanks a lot @Tidgney for your guides. They are really helpful as always.

I'm still impressed how fast this community here is. I went better and better golding most of TT. I never thought this will be possible when i started TT (and GT7) about a year ago and i'm really happy about it. But guys (and woman) you are sooo fast. Chapeau!

Hey folks,

yet another update from me. I‘ve been doing quite a few more sessions these past couple of weeks than before. Like @P-Courty, I feel a fresh wave of motivation, fueled in part by the realization that, amazingly, I can still improve. The Ioniq will (if nothing outrageous happens) be my 4th top 100 placement, and three of them happened since last December. The prospect of registering on that first page and scoring an 👽 badge is still absolutely exhilarating. When I started this journey not even two years ago, never in my wildest dreams would I have believed I was capable of this kind of performance, but this place made it happen. Never change, TT community!

:gtpflag:

Keeping the top 100 „streak“ going will be very tough, but not impossible. I did a session in the GT1 earlier tonight and scraped off a little more than 5 hundredths.

IMG_0040.jpeg

Obviously not enough, but what‘s encouraging is that this lap‘s S1 time was almost two tenths slower than my previous PB, so there is a path for me to get to a low 1:53.4 or even a 1:53.3. But that will have to wait for another day.

Happy lapping folks!
