Time Trial Leaderboard

Am I being dense or is there no leaderboard for time trial mode?
I can see a rankings board, but it’s totally empty, and when I do a lap I can only see my best time.

The time trials accessible from World Circuits are offline time trials, same as GT Sport, they'll only ever show you your best times per session.

Once/if the the online time trials start, there will be. Those will be for specific events though. If you just want to see how your time on any circuit stacks up against everyone else... that's unlikely to happen, based on previous games.

That’s really surprising. I’ve not played many racing games but I thought that was a basic feature, of any score based games actually. Why is it necessary to always be online then? 😂
On Forza 7 I really enjoyed competing with friends for fastest laps - I could download their ghosts, or anyone’s ghost on the leaderboard.

Yup traditionally that's not how it works in GT.

That's not specifically a feature I'm looking for personally - I'm normally only worried about beating my times - since I already know there's thousands of faster people than me out there!. Though I usually time trial a lot, even just as a list of my own best times, the GT lap time board is not that useful, not enough data! Always maintained a spreadsheet instead (since GT4 days anyway).

The fastest time from each session is logged, that's it. If you do 10 sessions in a really fast car, you're lap board will basically only ever show those times.

I hope they can flesh it out a bit more in future. So much potential to improve by just displaying what is basically spreadsheet data.

I hear you, I remember playing Forza 3 back in the days of the Xbox 360 and enjoying competing against my friends in the time trials. Unfortunately, for whatever reason this does not seem to be a feature of the GT series so wouldn't expect that feature to appear anytime soon. At the very least it would be nice if they could add some additional info to the personal time trial board to show some more details such as the PP of the car, as right now the only thing you know is the car category, so unless you are keeping a personal spreadsheet you have no idea if the cars setting the lap times in that category have similar ratings (unless you never change your cars and with all the tuning options and different race requirements that seems unlikely).

A lot of people post their time trial replays to “showcase”. You can search by track and car then try to beat the best time you see. You can also download their ghosts. Not nearly as nice as a real leaderboard but it’s something.

Also, it's kind of moot given that you can only see the model of car used and the tyre choice. Nothing of any modifications of any sort, so using a friend's time as a yardstick for your own would be fruitless... The way in which the game functions right now, anyway.
