Time trials in Rivals missing?

The Rivals section of the game has only got the specialised challenges - drift, trackday etc in which you usually have to use a specific car or car type.

But the open time trials in which you could race any car according to its performance index and which was a feature of previous games appears to be absent. Maybe they are being delayed to the official launch date.

Also there doesn't seem to be any facility to do a test drive - there is a panel in the Free Roam mode with test drive on it but it is greyed over and doesn't open up anything.

I've only been dabbling about with the game for an hour or so so maybe I've missed something - haven't even looked at the career mode.

I'm not positive, and I haven't read anything on it yet, but I think some of that stuff will open up when the main release happens Tuesday. Or maybe even some of it later when they add the auction house. That would be my guess.

As I understand it there will be rivals events at some point [hopefully soon] that use the new car classes. As far as I can tell the old e-x class rivals may be done for good. The new class system has some potential though so will wait and see.

For now you can use freeplay to set up custom races, tune your cars, access the leaderboards and post times to them. If you just want to hot lap post times and earn credits then you can turn collisions off in freeplay so the AI doesn't dirty your laps. You can also use our mod cards there to get extra credits and experience.

Thanx for the info/advice,

That sucks ass. So I can't just do stock rivals laps anymore?

Not at the moment, though doing in freeplay with ai and no collisions still allows you to hot lap without getting dirty from the AI and you can earn twice as many credits as you would be able to in rivals so long as you can beat the AI on the highest setting. You can also use the mods that boost earnings and xp if you have them so it is not all bad.

Hopefully they will add the rivals very soon, maybe when the standard game releases? or very soon afterward maybe.
I am willing to wait for now, been getting credits, tuning and leveling up mostly in free play.
