Time Trials

Sorry if this is sorta a newbie question. I really need to get gold in all the arcade time trials. I can do OK, gotten silver and bronze in a few. But I was just wondering is there any good tricks, etc. to getting golds on them? Thanks.

"As I was walking down the street, looking for my destination, I spotted a man carrying a violin case. He was moving most determinedly. I figured he was a local and would know where I wished to go.
"Excuse me?" I called. He stopped and turned.
"Do you know the way to Carnegie Hall?" I enquired.
"Practise, dear boy. Practise.""

I've been working on Time Trials. So, I dug up some old threads. I find it interesting that many struggled with Tahitti Maze (TT9) so much. I beat that one relatively quickly. I'm struggling with TT8 - Swiss Alps. I can't seem to keep that kind of momentum. I watched those videos above and am just stunned. I'm think I'm saving TT10 for last.

A couple of other good threads on the subject:

I'm on my second time through the game. First time was about 5 years ago. I'm using the DFP wheel this time around. Makes it much easier than before.

I started with the TTs this time. I figured it was the best way to get back in the GT groove. I remember how I struggled with these years ago. Not this time. I haven't seen these tracks all this time, but got 1st place times after only a few tries. It's not me, it's the wheel. Feels more natural.

The Swiss Alps took 9 tries. I use auto trans and the car hangs the gears and bogs down a bunch. I finally just kept the throttle down and flogged the DFP. Smelled smoke coming off the FF motors.:)

I nailed first on Tahiti 2nd try.

Got 2nd place time on the Complex String on my 2nd lap, 4 seconds shy of first. It amazed me that after all this time, I still remembered every turn. I'll come back to this one later. 4 seconds isn't really hard to chop off on such a long track, but it is easy to blow a good lap and have to retry often, and with them being so long, I wanted to move on with the rest of the game.

I do have a question that I can't remember an answer to from my first time through for 100%. I noticed I'm not getting any awards for the TTs, golds, silvers, etc. Yet, I did go into my Home in the simulation section to check game status. It said, after doing the TTs, I was at 2% completed. What is each TT worth towards 100%, and do I need to make top time, or is 3rd good enough? Like I said, I already have firsts on all but TT10, where I have 2nd.

I watched the vids several times and had at it Thursday night. Within 10 tries I beat Swiss Alps. Then I did a couple of Arcade races and called it a night.... forgetting to save the game ...... Heck, I saved my name and the replay, it never dawned on me that I needed to save the game too. I went back at it this morning and loaded my replay as ghost and in about 10 tries I beat My old replay and beat first by more than half a second. Looking around the TTs, I noticed that I hadn't bothered to save the one with the Skyline or the Tom's Supra either. I think I'm too used to the autosave in GT4.

Those vids are excellent. I was especially impressed with the EVO at Tahitti. I'm guessing the by the jerky moves of the steering indicator that the D-Pad was used for steering.
