ok i see alot of requests for setups that go something like this " i have X car and it sucks give me a setup".

not only is this rather rude, but mainly its severly lacking in important info for the tuning community. the list that follows is a template for tuning requests just fill in the blanks ;)

" Oh great tuning gods ( ok thats a bit mutch lol) i have just got X__________ car and put X_________ parts on it. i want to use it for X__________ races or have X__________ 1/4 mile stats ect. when i run it on X_______ track it seems to X_____________ ( description of problems encountered ect and driving habbits ) i currently have its setting as X___________ ( this would include all changable settings if you didnt change something just say that setting is not altered) . i would like it to be more X____________ ( description of what you want improved ) if anyone can help bla bla bla.

ok so why this format for a request? simple it gives us the tuners all the info we need to properly setup and tune the car as per your request. we will know what car you have what all parts you have on it, what races you want to use it on and therfore what situations roadwise youll be facing, and what you percieve as its current problems. and ofcorse your current settings so we can laugh at your sad tuning skills ( just kiddin ) but all jokes aside if requests would be put in this type of format with all the info ive listed it would be very helpful to us the tuning community.

thanks,
Aarkon.

OK, first you can assume your current set-up is default and if it isn't, who cares that's what isn't working! Secondly, although you haven't got such a bad idea- like I say there's always room for improvement I think you're asking too much. Not to criticise you or anything. :guilty:

Dude, I think 99% of people when asking for a set-up will usually have their cars maxed out with the best of all mods. It's not that hard to max a car out with everything. Not many people buy a car and leave it as standard unless it's for a non-tuned race.

And that's the thing - many people just buy all the mods without even having driven the car stock to find out what the weaknesses are.

There's no magic bullet for settings; therefore it's totally impossible to tell someone what to do to a given car until they know and can tell you what they're trying to fix.

Car response in GT - and GT4 in particular - is so heavily dependent upon the way the car is driven that there's no way to make blanket recommendations for improving a car without knowing what problem you're trying to solve.

It just wastes time to post "d00d I got a R34 and wuts the best settings 4 it" because then we have to come back and coax all the necessary information out anyway, and no one worthwhile is likely to waste the time doing that.

exactly my point duke. IF the people requesting a tuning setup would give the information i specified above it would make it so mutch easyer to tune it as per their request.

Just adding a racing-suspension to a streetcar will make it too stiff & it will understeer. As a routine I reduce stabilisators a bit, lowers rideheigt & soften springs both close to minimum. Then I`ll take it for a ride and check out if the body moves just enough to give a good balance. This gives set up with a medium stiffness to fit both racing & sportstires for a start, the real tweaking comes later.
