Tire effect on A-Spec points?

I'm not sure where I should put this, but...

I am trying to re-do the 24hr. races in A-spec. For a challenge, I wanted to go up against the race tire equipped cars with a car with sprts tires. I chose the Mine's Skyline. (I know it has around 100-200 more hp. than the competition.) First race=vs. one of the racing skylines. I could keep up decently, thanks to the large straights, but I am not a consistent driver so I decided the race would be a huge gamble. (would've been a good race) 40 pts.

Tried again. This time, the only car I couldn't beat was the caterham. While almost every car was a lot faster in the twisty section after the carousel, I could beat them almost everywhere else. The caterham gained 9 secs. per sector. I quit. 58 pts.

Re-entered. Fastest car was a Calibra touring. I was quite a bit faster, although he could keep up when his tires warmed up. I had a 20 sec. lead after 6 laps. A-spec points? 9.

So, now to the question. Do sport tires play much of a role in determining a-spec points? The races seem much harder than they should be with that many points. Sport tires offer much less grip and I have to change them twice as often. Why is the A-spec total so low?

I locked this because I thought it was asking a different question to the one it actually is... So I've reopened it.

As far as I know, sports tyres should dramatically increase available A-spec points. It could just be that you're packing far too much power to make the point modification of the tyres significant.

Out of interest, you say you raced against the Caterham?!

No. Chaparral. Wow. big name mix-up.:guilty: I retried it against the M3 race car. I was netting the necessary time to pit every three laps, until my sister cam alot and unplugged the video cord. :grumpy: 60 points. I was making tons of time on the straights. about 4 secs per. A little over a six second lead after lap 2.

Hi Philly,
I suggest you come and have a look at this subforum. "All" is revealed here wrt A spec points. 👍
200 pt A spec races

AMG.

Your main problem is that your hp advantage is affecting your points much more than the tyres. You will never get offered big points when you have a hp advantage (especially 100-200hp). What you need is lower hp than your opposition, great drivetrain and suspension, and the best tyres you can use - only use worse tyres to make up the last few points.

Well I usually go for light weight, low power. I kind of felt like doing a 24 hr race in a street car and wanted to make up the handling difference with horsepower. That and I have been practising with the Mine's for a few days without AIDS, which I always use. (Very well balanced car, as easy as with aids on.) The hp difference does make sense for dropping the score. Looks like I'll be gaining 6 to 10 seconds every six laps (M3 pit stint. Mine is 3)

Thanks guys!
