Tire wear model seems broken now

Just did a race at Sardegna with Viper GR3 on hard tires. After 6 or 7 laps tires were at 70%, but grip was gone and car started to slip back end badly. Tires felt like completely worn but showed on the indicator as still good.
Shouldn't tires perform well until more than 50% worn? It has been noted earlier that the tire model seemed changed after 1.19. It seems they have overdone the tire degradation in a couple of cases. I have noted this in other situations too.
What are your experiences? Do you feel the model is wrong now?
 
Especially when we're talking about Hards. They drop quickly, so say the 70% rubber left makes them feel slippy, while Medium starts slipping at 50%

Did you change any thing about the car since last time you race it?
 
I didn't notice any difference and i played twice on Sardegna since the new update

first with the R30 Skyline and then with C7 Gr.3 , RH from start to finish , stopping only for fuel

It was the first time I was seriously testing the Viper. So it may well be as the earlier replies suggest, that there has been no change. I am just surprised how quickly the Viper wears out its hard tires.

Haven't noticed with the hard or medium tyres, but on my daily grinds in Tokyo where I use the A220 with Racing Softs... Tyre wear seems to be the same as always, and once they get to about 70-75%, you will start to struggle quite a bit.
 
I think you just need to manage the loss of grip better. I can do all 15 laps of Sardegna WTC800 on the same set of hard tyres. Same now as before the latest update I’d say.

In the Viper too?
That's why I made the original post, 15 laps Sardegna on hards is easy in other cars, but in the Viper they felt badly worn after 10 and I changed them.

That’s a misleading thread title if you’re only having an issue with the Viper Gr. 3. I don’t have this car myself.
 
To be honest what do you expect from a car that has like 8000 Nm of torque?
 
Does running tcs help, in general, with tyre wear? Assume it does as less wheel spin, tyres screeching... but haven;t analyzed or monitored it at all.

The accelerator doesn’t become an on/off switch with TCS off. Manage your throttle input appropriately and you won’t notice TCS is off.

In my experience yes, especially when you’re running Inters and the track is drying out. I could make them last longer in RWD cars by bumping up the TCS from 1 to 3 or 4 so I didn’t have to pit just to switch back to slicks.
