tire Wear/Pit Stops, Fuel Depletion?

Hi Guys, Quick question, I'm @ lvl 16, have done a few expert events, I still have not seen any pit stops/tire wear/Fuel Depletion events are they end the game? i love those types of races.

Do you mean these things are deactivated? Or that no race is long enough? Every race has fuel/tires for me.

When I went online once, I accidentally stumbled on a drifter room and ended up doing donuts. Tire ware becomes very obvious when doing 600 HP donuts. It seems that color on the tire meter is now temperature, and the "health" of a tire is how much of it is filled by color. Abusing tires like that is the only way I've seen any noticable tire ware though. I also don't like the arcade like tire health bar thing.

Fuel definately goes down, but every car in GT seems to be a hybrid or something.

I ran a race at Eiger in arcade mode just to see how a rainy race would feel. The race was set for 10 laps with tire/fuel depletion "on". At lap #8, all of the AI cars pitted. So, it's in there. But, I'm not sure about the implementation. The endurance races will tell the tale on how well this aspect has been implemented.

Fuel and tire depletion seems to be enabled only on arcade mode/single races (if the option is enabled) and longer races in A/B-spec mode (that personally I yet have to see).
I still don't understand why PD chose to not activate it in shorter races too, and not let users have the option to activate it in time trials.

Im still abit bemused as to why we cant pit on short races what if we put the wrong tyres on like hard racing tyres when we should have put soft tyres on instead so do a lap and a quick pit to change and were off but nope that's not the case, And thanks to the UI ive many times already used the wrong tyres for a race

Ah whew, thanks. Where is Endurance series? Are there events that you unlock that are not liated initially?

They appear at level 25

Probably because on short races, unless you pick an absolute ringer of a car, you are guaranteed to lose if you go into the pits due to the amount of time it costs you. But yeah, no tire wear and no fuel consumption means there isn't much reason for them to exist in the non-endurance events. There also isn't any dynamic weather until the endurance events, so there's no need to change tire type.

Yes you need to reach lvl 25 to unlock the endurance races.

I've done 2 so far and it's actually pretty cool that the soft tires last very long.

I used the 908 for the first endurance race and the hard tires didnt last very long. Even with TC at 5 you still get a lot of wheel spin. I changed for the soft tires and they lasted much longer and I was a lot quicker too.
For my 2nd endurance race in Tsukuba I managed to make more than 100 laps with one set of soft tires.

100 laps on 1 set of softs how on earth is that possible, I mean seriously I can destroy a set of soft tyres within half a lap

Tire temperature and tire wear are 2 separate things. You can overheat tires extremely quickly with aggressive driving. There is no tire wear in A-Spec or special events until the Level 25+ events.

In my AWD cars, the tires don't heat up too fast, but in my fully modded old style Mini the tire wear bars do go down (although slowly) and they get hot extremely fast. I'm at level 14. The Mini does eat tires, but then it is always struggling for grip as it;s very light and seriously overpowered for what it is.

But having overheated tyres wears them down even faster than usual so I still have a valid point :P, Do you know if tyre wear occurs in any championships like Sunday Cup after level 25 ?

That's a kick in the pods right there :(, What on god's own earth were PD thinking :(

Even if they turned on tire wear and fuel consumption, you still wouldn't come close to needing to pit on those 2-5 lap or even 10 lap races. On long distance race tracks all the race cars I've used so far can go at least 20 laps between pit stops, and that's with soft tires.

However as tires wear, their grip will decrease, and some cars and/or drivers might eat tires quickly, so on most races in A-spec mode they have an advantage. Fuel depletion would also somewhat affect car performance as the total car weight and weight distribution change over time (again, here depending on the car).

There would have been some element of strategy in calculating the amount of fuel consumed in a short race, and putting in the fuel tank just the necessary amount to complete the race (if only there was an option to decide this in the game). Some cars have a very large fuel tank, so performance gains of having just the right amount of fuel rather than a full tank would be significant (although I'm not sure if in GT5 fuel tanks have varying sizes depending on the car. In GT4 they all had a 80 liters capacity).

A properly implemented fuel / fuel consumption management and tire depletion for all races would have added value to the simulation... too bad that PD don't seem to understand this.

Do the premium cars fuel gauges move or just the HUD? The Mach 1 mustang has a fuel gauge in the dash right in front of you! I`ve noticed some cars have moving oil pressure gauges(mx-5, BB512 etc) and the mustang has one in the console but it doesn`t move. Whats going on there? Unless it`s oil temp and not pressure but i doubt it.

Level 22 B-spec, 2drivers, Extreme Series, European Championship, Rome Circuit, 20laps, Tyre and fuel depletion is very evident, The icons for tyre temp slowly go down hense meaning the tyres are starting to wear, Hope that clears things up for people :)
