Tires that most good drifters use?

I like drifting but ive never tried tandem or even online with others (just offline)

But i go online and see these video's of people with these long ass drifts and the track covered in smoke while having complete control of there car while barely moving the steering wheel.

So what tires are these guys using exactly? Because my drifts are usually long the people in video's barely put effort into their long drifts and have huge smoke all over da place.

Ive been using sports hard, but i feel like people are using comforts.

Anything other than comfort hards or sometimes mediums is looked down on in GTP among drifters. In my opinion comfort hard tyres are the best as they are easier to maintain a slide with masses of angle without trying to grip like sports or racing tyres <- But I don't know why anyone would try to drift with racing tyres. Some will try and most certainly fail.

If you look at real world drifting, the tyres are similar to tyres you would find on a regular everyday car, not slicks as they do have too much grip.

Thank you guys very much. I see you guys drifting and i can't even believe your doing it. I just used sports hard for he longest time because they were the most controllable.

I think its my tunes are are making anything under hard controllable.

-Any tips on what to do to make comforts easier to control?

Practice practice practice and then more practice lol

lol ok ill practice and just get used to them. I used to use in past but then got anoyed when i moved up to higher speed drift cars like self-modded supra's Blitz and other higher speed cars.

ill go back and try comforts again though

Oh and i want you guys to try drifting my most insane car lol. Im sure theres more insance this is just most insane ive tried

Take the Pescarolo Hybride 2005
-Whatever tires i used sports hard
-Lower power limiter
-Add weight

Drift it.

Its not as bad of a drift car as you would think. Could be just me but i think its kinda fun to drift

XD

This will turn into another debate soon enough...

Yep I see it now

Do we really need a thread for this? Use the search feature. It's what it's there for.

Id say comfort hards. Most of the drifters in gt5 use comfort hards thats how we tandem and things. But if you really reaaly realy dont like comfort hards please i ask you to go no further than mediums

Sport Softs, they're amazing to drift with. It gives you the most control and maximum grip! [/sarcasm]

CH! Key is to lose grip easily, not struggle to do it! Sports is for racing, Racing is for LeMans, see the trend here?

Edit, I saw someone ask if we "really" need another topic, yes we do lol, the drifting threads been getting a little dry lately, lets bring on the heat.

Good advice

Anyone ever tried to drift with tire wear on - all worn out comfort hard/medium or even soft? I wonder how easy it would be to lose grip, gotta try it now :)

It's not easy lol

Willkommen bei GTP. :) You have only 35 posts. :scared:

It explains a bit, that you're having troubles getting "lots of smoke, all over da place" that you're using a Pescarolo C60 Hybride with Sports hards. Keep it comfy, keep it on comfort hards.

I've only used comfort hards in drifting. All of the other tires grip too much.

And, if you still have too many troubles, come back, and we'll help you out. We could get you tuning setups, practice routines and other general "aids" at your request.

I personally do not care what tires I'm using, and the...requirement general say is that you should use Comfort Hards.

I don't mind using them, but on the cars I mainly drift these days (McLaren F1, Saleen S7) you basically NEED either Comfort Softs or Sport Hards. (I use Racing Hards with the F1, it is just that bad...)

Try them all out, and see what you like...

It's proven apparently that Comfort Mediums match a new street radial used in real life drifting & that Comfort Hards match a worn street radial. Personally, I like Mediums a bit more but more used to Hards like almost the entire drift community. Just stick to Comfort Hards & Mediums. ;)

The main diference between CH and CM is not how many traction each one have while drifting, because there is no huge diference between each, but the grip/slip curve, because the CM is much more unpredictble and (in my opinion) incorrect. So certain sections where you drift ok with some effort using CH, probably will bring bad surprises while using CM because the grip does´t goes away when you expect and it comes back earlier than expected.

Nobody needs to agree with myself, im just telling my experience using CM until be sure that is not the best option.

Tyre choice for drifting is possibly the easiest thing in GT5. Or at least has been for me anyway.....comfort hard tyres is probably the only setting every one of my drift cars has in common.

Well that and none of them are front wheel drive:yuck:

This. 👍 I always use comfort hards unless I feel the car is a little squirrely. Then I use comfort mediums.

My little brother tells me to come look at his drift trial he did, and how many points he got... and then I see he was using a VW Golf GTi

I drift CM and CH. I enjoy both. Bit of a stretch to use CS and it is not a good idea to use SH

most of the guys in here would argue with me over this but id say comfort medium to soft as its a faster drift and more of a challenge we have a select amount of people we play with that all use same tyres and can tandem with softs well

I always drift with tire wear it not that hard for me and its alot more fun

Comfort Hard tyres along with Comfort Mediums are the most commonly used tyres for drifting.
