K , I didn't know where I was suppose the post this , I thought I should put it in the Rumble Strip , but anyway I posted it over here at the Computers and Internet forum ( well it has something to do with internet )

My question to all 56k users : What is the largest file you have downloaded off the net?

I just downloaded a 27.6 MB file ( video to be exact ) , took me a good 2 hours Holds the current record for me

130MB, Adobe Photoshop 6.0 (although I'm not allowed to talk about that - legal stuff)

Took 10hrs - half day. But I'm on ADSL now.

The largest I've downloaded... well in the past few weeks I downloaded the Epic bonus pack for UT2003 weighing in at a hefty 149 megs. Last year, I downloaded a full install of Tactical Ops for UT which was 192 megs. The only way I did either was with a download manager that was capable of resuming broken downloads. I definately need Cable or DSL.

Nothing huge. When I was on 56k I downloaded a 20MB patch. It took about an hour and a half if I remember correctly.

I remember downloading something like 130MB file with 56k.
2 years ago I got ISDN so things were a bit better and a year ago I got ADSL so thing are even better now.

24/7 online of course

Oh yeah, now I download about 10GB a month. Good that I don't have any d/l limits on my connection like in some countries.

Holy crap! I've downloaded over 1GB in less than half a day! I think the most I've downloaded in one month is about 10-12GB though, and most of those were ISO's for different Linux distributions. When I had 56k, the biggest file I can think of was probably either some Windows patch, IE patch, or some version of Netscape. I just remember how downloading MP3's way back the three or four years ago took forever to download a 5minute song, mostly because my ISP sucked and I only managed 2.5kb/s download speeds. If I had 2 downloads going, it would cut in half.

Yes, I'm happy I have cable, and unlimited bandwidth(although the fastest I've managed for connection speed is around 2.1MB/s)

I think the largest file I downloaded back when I was on 56k was about 110MB. It was the UT2k3 demo the day it was released.

250 meg game rip, im not going to say its name though
but all togeter, about 25gigs, i found that out when i was looking at flashgets d/l maneger thing.
and im amazed i d/l all that on a modem

How do you people still manage with 56k?

I just downloaded 1.3GB and it took 13 hours which felt quite long to me .
I really need a faster connection .

I constantly download 100mb+ files.

1 - 2 a week.

My highest was about 300mb.
