TO ALL GT4 owners: What are the car resale values like?(depreciation etc.)

What is the depreciation like in GT4? In GT3 all it did was divide the cost of the car by 4 to come up with a selling value. Is it the same for GT4 or is the depreciation more realistic.

i.e. Do modifications increase the value of the car? Does the value decrease with mileage, or increase if its a classic?

the modifications should really increase the value, and of course, the selling value must be more realistic, right...? not like GT3 as you mentioned, MrktMkr1986.. hated that decrease in value..

Exactly my point...
I've seen the some of the most ridiculous posts answered earlier an no one has answered my legitimate question when I last posted yesterday. :grumpy:

I hope the resale values are more realistic in GT4, but the only way we'll find out is if someone with the game answers.

From what I understand any car you win you wouldnt want to sell becuase you will only get the car once unless you rest and re-race the series, which might be a pain cuase they are supposed to get harder everytime you rest them.

But as far as buying a car and selling it at a later date with full mods, it should go up in price from the stock car. It was kinda annoying in GT3 selling a fully tuned car for peanuts of what its worth. So yes they need to fix that anyone with GT4 able to come here and answer this?

whats the point?? no one cares about resale value
garage is so big and money is so easy to make. nearly every car in the game is like pocket change near later in the game

ahh... that's what I feared.. damn you hyde.. ok, the garage is big enough and stuff, but you may want to get rid of some cars from time to time, and it would be nice to get some of the money you invested back.. at least that's my opinion..

What??? The finance side is part of the fun at the start. You have to make best use of your funds untill you make it into the bigtime races. The resale value of your cars would often be an important point when selling old unwanted cars

I agree with Stune it is very important at the begining of the game.

Also Hyde if you think this thread is pointless why dont you start up GT4 buy a car see what the selling price is put some mods on it and then check the price again. Then give us the results and put the disscussion to an end.

the race are so retardly easy

any stock 260HP + cars can easily win Japan cup, do it once and u can afford most street cars in this game.

and u get fast enough cars from just getting bronze in license test.

cool. Well mybe you would want a supercar and to do that you may need to sell your old cars. Mybe you want to try all of the other 729 cars instead of sticking to the same one for most of your careea

MelloBoy
devaluation by about 4/5
my ford SVT lightning cost 3.5million new
used (tuned to 550hp) sold for 700k

Thats great. thanks for that. Just out of intrest how much did you spend on your car on upgrads ( a value ) before you sold it

This may sound repetitive, but thanks for the info.

To Hyde: I wouldn't have asked the question if I didn't want to know... but I guess I can understand what you were trying to say about the races being easy etc.

maybe 2million to 3 million credits for a stage 3 NA tune, NOS (LOL), and some tires and suspension stuff...or it might have been clutch/flywheel/carbon driveshaft...i don't remember exactly

And what about the fact that bonus cars that have no marked value are not worth anything when you sell them? Any news on this?

Thanks for the replies

See ya :sly:

if you sell a bonus car that has no value, you get 0 credits and you basically get a popup saying "you are junking your car...are you ok with this" :P

gay if you tell me...

i guess i should just say that anything you cannot buy has no resale value that i've seen up to this point. a few notable exceptions i THINK are the Cizeta and some other cars...
