Honda have not won this season... Only 3 more meetings for the ageing Integra workhorse to try!
The Honda Integra seems to have an identity crisis. It is as fast as any car in twisty tracks on one lap however, It cannot ever get the victory due to the poor race pace of the car.
The car seems to have been designed to be competitive at low speed corners, however this also develops a higher tyre wear due to exiting with excessive wheel spin. It develops higher tyre wear also due to the understeering nature of the car. The driver must adjust set up to counter the understeer which massively increases tyre wear due to the front typically having a higher weight distribution abd the more aggressive camber settings to help turn on. This diminishes the race pace pretty quickly and leads to it understeering like a donkey with no front legs.
The Honda's only win came at High Speed ring last year. It won that race despite being better in low speed corners for a number of reasons:
Lower tyre wear
Good power
Different regulations
Slipstreaming allowing anyone to win the race in a half decent car

This combination of factors lead to an open gap into the hole of victory and so the Honda was recognised as a winning machine. The corners at HSR are at a radius which does not punish the FF drivetrain of the Integra like it is at Cape Ring Inside (However this is more to do with the Altezza than anything else). Unfortunately there are no more circuits like HSR on this calendar which makes the likelihood of another Honda victory very distant indeed.

Bit of an essay but I hope you enjoyed it :).

But everything you say is true. At Tsukuba last season Honda's led 1-2-(3?) If i remember early on before just getting bundled backwards. Good luck to Honda guys, and everyone else!

I might end up changing car after Indy if I can't get the race speed of the Integra any better... The Mazda looks promising, considering that it's generated some good results throughout the season.

Official Prize for winning Season 2 is a Level 23 Ticket! 👍

2nd gets a free NGTC car of their choice!

3rd gets a Premium Super GT300 of their choice!

Look forward to one of those. So modest!

Hmm... currently running low 1'42's with akmuq's setup (I was only unsure about the top speed since I use kmh's, but 250 seemed good so I stuck with it) and the sports softs in the back, which seem to do at least some good on this track.

No, I didn't lose my confidence in Tsukuba, I took it more as a lesson for tough racing and all that... Next season I'll probably skip that track though, unless I somehow end up as a championship contender.

Top speed would be only good for the Nurburgring anyways cause that's where I made the setup.👍

I was under the impression that we had to use racing hards all round

Clarification please Mr Mulsanne, thanks 👍

It was mentioned earlier in the thread after vtec announced they were using sport softs and he said it was interesting, so I'm presuming it's alright.

PS. I tried it and it was rubbish.

I find them fun at times  They're just not good for overtaking because the slide could knock the other guy into the sandtrap and cause one to become the target of several cusswords :sly:

In theory Sports softs shoul offer less grip than racing hards
And depending on where you use them, will have a big impact on the handling characteristic of the car

So, its ok to use any tyre up to and including race hards?

Thats what I thought Boyce

Furi, you should amend the rules on page one to reflect this previously unknown latitude on tyres

Hang on a mo! On page one of this thread it states that racing hards are mandatory! Whats going on?

There's always someone who finds a grey area  . Ok I've had a look through and I'm deciding: RACING HARDS ONLY.

~If anyone is bored with no TOCA  when Season 2 is done, I have this planned for the off-season...

Is there really an advantage to be gained from a lower compound tire????

Regardless, I was the only one that ran that setup.... & will be making a car change into the Mazda6 Touring car for the remainder of this season.

Ok. Send me a friend request again vtec as well 👍

Well, there goes the only real challenge from the Hondas...no offense intended to the other Honda drivers.

Thanks, but the Honda doesn't have much hope with it's tire wear issue. I have to jump in the Mazda for any chance at 3rd again.

I still dare to try the Honda... but will change out of it too if no success comes up. It may have a nice advantage on Indy's straight, however.

That time of the week... what times are you doing? I haven't turned a wheel this week, and this meeting is 4 races remember...

I'm getting 1'41/2s.

Won't be racing this saturday, and probably not next saturday as I had a bad accident on wednesday and i've been in hospital the last couple of days. So I won't be able to race due to my injury, have a good race!
P.S. It won't be particulary noticeable will it though as DK considers me and another Honda driver as not a challenge.
