Shutokou Battle Zero One
Not terribly big news updates for those casual gamers who got off on The Hulk and Futurama, but that fact that Ubi Soft has unofficially picked up Shutokou Battle Zero One may surprise and delight more hardcore Japanese racing game fans. You may know in its American form as Tokyo Highway Challenge on Dreamcast or Tokyo Xtreme Racer on PS2, but Either way the series, which has appeared on Super NES, Saturn, PlayStation, Dreamcast and PS2, is coming our way, maybe even this year." -ign

what i meant to suggest was it is most likely coming to the u.s., so wait until it comes out here since it is VERY probable. the benefits from this include:
-bug fixes(havent heard of any bugs but who knows)
-possible(unlikely) new content
-the ability to understand EVERYTHING in the game(ive read the story is told through cgi which sounds too cool to miss, and the ability to know the little useless facts about the wanderes...yeah im a HUGE detail guy)
-and finally a lower price (and yes if there was no chance this game was coming to the u.s. id already have ordered it at playasia.com and the appropriate swap disc/slide card to play it, this is more of "oh thats co0l too" reasons to wait)

sorry im bored....:D

So if I want to get the import version of this game, that's what it's called. I only played a demo of an older version on the dreamcast and I wasn't that impressed with it. All I seemed to do was drive in a straight line and the occasional curve.

Is there more to this version of the game?

well if tokyo xtreme racer/tokyo xtreme racer 2 (both of which u coula have played on dreamcast) didnt appeal to u then maybe not. i mean i was ho0ked after playing txr on dreamcast and was blown away by the fact the game is based on an actual culture of highway racers in japan, but to each i own. i understand the different context of each of our first impressions was WAY different (mine when the graphics were pretty go0d/urs when they are very outdated) but the same basic premise/gameplay is the same-become the fastest on the highway by challenging/getting challenged by rivals of varrying skill/speed levels. the cars are liscensed this time around and the graphics/physics are HEAPS better from what ive heard. the rims are also liscensed and i think some of the bodykits. u can also adjust a mutlitude of settings (camber, downforce, ride height, gear ratios, etc....) i could go on forever but u get the idea. heres a few links

tuning
car selection
highway systems

yeah there in japanese, but u should get the idea.
:D

Hmmm, I like the car selection.
Also I kinda enjoyed the customise your car bit in Automodelista.
Is there a 2 player mode, where you can race your friends cars?

Thats kinda what annoyed me about Initial D Special Stage. I wanted to race my friends on it, but no bloody 2 player mode.

I'm kinda looking for a new racing game though, so I might as well go for it.

And the Japanese version is called Shutokou Battle Zero One?

Is it hard to play, I mean in Japanese.

I mean I can play special stage fine, but I have no idea what everyone is saying. Although I just care about the races.

its supposed to be really import friendly (all the vital stuff is in english) and yes the newest version in the series is shutokou battle 01...and will most likely b called tokyo xtreme racer 01 in the u.s. release..hope it helps:D

Shutokou battle 01 is a kinda hard name for me to remember. I'll have to write it down. Ok, i'm gonna get it. :D

so if i buy the import version do i have to buy anything special to play it on my playstation 2. cuz i can't wait till it comes out in the u.s. i have played every tokyo extreme racer thus far. i love every one of them. the only racing game that i have found that was better was a game that was online. called motor city online. but they shut it down so i want another racing game. then i heard about the new tokyo extreme and want it. thx
