Too much emphasis on creating real life courses

Hi all, I have been spending the last week or so as you have creating all those lovely courses that we wish were included in GT6. I for one love Interlagos, and have made several on Eifel, Eifel flat and Andalucia and can honestly say that whilst Eifel flat is the easiest to work on the majority of tracks are bland without the elevation changes. I implore you skilful people out there to give Eifel and Andalucia a try, add a little artistic license or design your own little gems.

I haven't shared anything yet as i'm still experimenting

Good luck :)

It's useful to start with real tracks to get a better sense of scale and proportions. For instance the FIA class 1 tracks used in GP races are almost too long and boring for sub 500 PP cars. And many tracks are flat so come out fine at Eifel. A lot of personal creations are simple or twisted intestines. It's all works in progress, but props to PD for coming up with tracks like Midfield, Apricot Hill and Grand Valley, it's not as easy as it looks.

There is so much emphasis because we love the circuits that we don't have and yes they may not look the same or have the same bumps at least we can make them on the track path editor. Who knows people may even make even more accurate versions on themes that don't allow tracing. As for creating your own tracks I've had a go and I like it but I cannot come up with as good of a track compared to if I built a pre existing one.

It is natural for many of us to want our favorite tracks included in the game. The problem lies in the limitations of the APP. Eifel Flat is the EASY button because it allows tracing of the track. However, many of the tracks done on this template lose all their character due to loss of elevation changes. Usig the other templates is a hit or miss exercise in frustration as you try to place the track in a way that will somewhat recreate the proper terrain and then have to freehand the track outlines. I give huge props to anyone that is making their recreations in this manner. It is a lot of work. I know because I have been working on one for over a week and I am still not satisfied with it enough to release it.

I agree that designing new tracks will probably result in a more compelling driver experience. There are so many limitations with the track editor that recreations will probably lack proper character. Does anyone feel like the recreations are helping them to learn proper driving lines around these real world tracks?

The main reason to design real life tracks is because they had professionals make them already. I have made my own tracks and they suck. Real life tracks show exactly where the curbing is, how tight turns should be, etc. You already know it will be fun to drive on. My plan is to build a bunch of real tracks and hopefully learn from them, then I will have the skills to design my own track that is actually good.

Tried working on Interlagos and the Alpine Ring from Forza 1,using Eifel and Andalucia. Andalucia is certainly the prettiest, and seems to have a lot less pop up. Have managed to get the rise up to the finish line and the fall down to the 2nd corner at Interlagos. Just can't get the scaling right on any track, i'm using the app on Bleustacks and for whatever reason the scaling starts off fine and the whole image rescales as I progress.

I appreciate the great work you have done thus far :)

I'm predicting it's just a matter of time before we have a dozen copies of Darlington Raceway or GT3's "Complex String" etc, etc.

We're already well on our way. I've seen 3 Complex Strings so far.
