Top Gear Challenge Mode?

After seeing the 'car soccer' thread, I have had a killer idea.

Now that PD has a relationship with Top Gear and the track is going to be in GT5, how about a 'Top Gear Challenge Mode'?

Just like the missions of GT4 it would be a light-heated bit of fun, but still keeping realistic driving.

There could be so many things but I was thinking specifically of the time that they had to modify the Renault Avantime to beat an Evo.

What Top Gear challenges would you like to replay on GT5?
 
Moat of bes challenges are impossible do right in a game.
-Buy supercar for £2000 and do challgenges find out if breaks before the end:)
-Reliant Robin Space Shuttle
-Prove that RWDs are better than FWDs :) (would work in a game)
-And vietnam road trip was also an epic challenge and adventure
 
the renault avantime challenge would work, and the aim of the game is to have used the least amount of money at the end.

you can do the cheap car challenges, just buy a car cheaply, and then do lots of challenges like testing straight line speed and handling. and you can find out if it breaks before the end because this game has damage which will ruin the engine evenually.

that seems like the ideal type of challenge for a gt game, with past games level of tuning options it would be fun.

presuming gt5 does do anything daft like gtm and ditch the gt mode in favour of a bucketload of 'missions'.
 
Sorry for getting a bit off track but GT mode made GT Feel much more like you were doing something more than playing a game. Forza felt quite generic with races put in a side scrolling menu.
 
or guys why not use the car and try to beat the stigs time.
have a mission like
beat the stig
try to beat 1min 18.3 secs in a bugatti veyron on the top gear test track.

they should have a section of missions called beat the stig.

Make up your own challenges, it's that simple. You don't need the game making up challenges for you. For example, make an old Skyline GTR as fast around a track as the new GTR without spending more then X credits. I'm sure there will be plenty of things we can all think of.
 
Something like beet the stig would work very nicely (at least it would if GT had all the cars).
The majority of the other challenges just wouldnt work in a serious game
 
I made a challenge in GT4 where I took the M5 around the Nurburgring to clock a time. I then had to beat that car using 30000cr. where I also had to buy the car.

I think I failed...but only by 4 or so seconds. I might try it again.

Make up your own challenges, it's that simple. You don't need the game making up challenges for you. For example, make an old Skyline GTR as fast around a track as the new GTR without spending more then X credits. I'm sure there will be plenty of things we can all think of.

good point about that however technichally isn't that sort of the idea of gran turismo earn money make a car as fast as possible while spending the least money, then the cycle goes on until you buy your nect car to tune.

i did this with gt3 ( don't have gt4 didn't work on my ps2) i bought a corvette c6 tuned it up won loads of races then bought a zonda tuned it to over 1200bhp and won superspeedway endurace easily, still my fastest straightline car faster than the suziki escurado,

sorry abit of topic but we could have a couple of these challanges but then we can make up the rest,

beat the stig would be ace we could have the board and as we beat the times they are ticked off. you shouldn't have to buy the car just get it for this challange. when you beat them all you could get the "i am the stig" throphy and win a car or some cash.
 
About BEAT THE STIG.
I think people will beat him with same cars, and similar tires. One reson, in game is easier, you don't worry about crashing, and most important factor, You can re try 100 times in row, Stig only does it couple of times.
 
and it would still be fun wouldn't it, good drivers might find it easiy however it would be good fun
 
I think the idea of doing the Top Gear challenges in GT5 that were done in the past on the show would be a good idea. But there are also people like myself that would make our own challenges or at least do the Top Gear challenges with modified rules. Personally one such challenge I would do would be to make a Ford Mustang superior to a Ferrari 430 for no more than 5,000 credits.
 
Yeah I like the rules, they give you a car, and you have to modify it..

Or how about they give you 20,000 Cr (or whatever the price) and you have to buy a used car and tune it up to beat a F430?

It would be cool to have a Stig lap board in game to try to beat but unlikely to be included. However as the board is online for all to see we can do it anyway with a few exceptions like Porsche, but you never know.

Shouldn't there be more than enough voice sampling from Clarkson during the laps (Stig and the guests) to do a quiet accurate commenting on a lap on that track?

"He's off!"
"That IS fast"
"Here's hammerhead!"
"He's got some wheelspin there!"
"Over Gambon..."

e.t.c... It can't be too hard to find triggers for them
 
The only "challenge" I'd like to see in relation to Top Gear is the ability to time trial against ghost laps of The Stig in the various cars he's taken around the Top Gear Test Track. Anything else, a bit like Top Gear now, will be pointlessly stupid.

I like the top gear challenge ideas, so many things you could do with 'modifying one car to beat another'. If the TG test track is there we should have a leaderboard for the Suzuki Liana and Chevrolet Lacetti :)
 
before we get to excited is the top gear test track confirmed for the game or is this just speculation.

Yes, the Top Gear test track will be in GT5. As such, it's fair to expect ghost laps to be included of all the cars in the game that have been taken around the track.
