What is your choice and why for the top Japanese cars, Factory spec'ed through to modifying.

Of course I chose the Nissan Skyline GTR. Nothing Japan makes can match it in fun as a road car, or out right performance. Too bad the JGTC has too many rules to regulate the Skyline or it would just dominate.

RX-7.

It's unique, 50/50 wieght distribution, awsome sounding, looks great, drives great, a ton of power stock, fun car.

And I would know, I've been in the 3 gens of RX-7s, from GSL-SE first gens to the twin turbo 3rd gens. They are something to be had. Like Mazda's older slogan when the 3rd gen came out, "It Just Feels Right".

Mitsu GTO/ Eclipse (basically the same car). I have a Eclipse and I love it. Never had a better car.

The Mitsubishi GTO is a 3000GT, not an Eclipse...

Skyline GT-R of course!

In the JGTC, I would go Skyline. But if I'm just buying a car for myself, I'd want an RX-7. All things considered (this includes the price tag ...) the RX-7 comes out a little ahead.

I wish there were more RX-7 teams in the JGTC. It's a great car, just not enough mechanics willing to work on it.

Nissan Skyline GT-R R34. Period. I'm a big-time Scooby fan, love the RX-7, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Looks the business, goes like stink, and sounds like all hell. What else do you want?

I'm going to be unique here and not say the Skyline. I'll say the 3000GT/GTO. Twin Turbo at 300HP stock! 4WD sending power to all 4 wheels. The lines, soooo smooth.

Well the cars listed wont cost trillions to maintain mate. If you purchase an older version of one of them such as Series 6 RX, EVO 1, R32 GTR you will have some costs involved as they are not brand new but not that much unless you get a lemon. I would cost more to maintain a 1994 Viper than an 1989-1994 R32 GTR. So far I have been lucky with my GTR only minor issues such as clutch, top tank on the radiator, and temp sender. Big deal cuz it is still a $30,000 NZD car. I could sell it today here in NZ for $35,000 all day long.

I voted for the Supra! Mainly cause it looks the best (IMO) and its a toyota. It also has high potential. Most people can get that car to 900 horsepower at the flywheel easily!:D And its a lot cheaper than a skyline.

Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo
I just like the look of this car, I suppose its Nissans version of a supra. But I prefer the way it looks, although its hart to get parts for em in the UK.

Honda/Acura NSX Type S Zero

Because it's a great looking car with alot of potential. Not to mention that it's one of the best handling cars in the world. It also beat a F355 in the 400m....

Gotta be the RX-7. Turbo FD, oh lordy. FR owns joo, as they say. I'd also like a friendly, competent rotary mechanic that I could keep crammed in the back...

It took me a bit but found a good one.

Wow. It seems that Mitsubishi as pulled a page from Lamborghini. As the Countach has become more "busy" over the years, as has the Lancer EVO over this decade.
