Top speed

pain killer
what is the fastest u have gone in the max speed test?

my top speed is--254.63 mph in my Nissan R390GT1 Road Car '97

I only use the max speed to test unmodified cars for my website so my fastest so far is the Oreca Viper @ 223.something mph. In GT1 had a Skyline that got way more than that but I forget how much.

BTW, you should never press ‘save’*after you're done with any of the license tests...that's how you get the garage thief to come & steal all your cars. Instead, you should look at your records...make sure there's nothing fishy there (cars with a record of .372 seconds or 999 mph), then go check your garage, make sure everything looks good there, and then you can finally save your game in the Start menu.

well my top speed was 270 something. it was with a GTO Twin Turbo fixed up to like 930 HP. i still have the replay in my memory card. its very weird though cause in the first lap of the test course it get 230 then the second lap it goes crazy. i will verify the speed when i get my GT disc. sorry this isnt about GT2

Thats only in the 1.0 version. ;)

My top speed would have to be 245mph in the escudo.

Hehe... true. Those evil punks only used to work on my garage after 1000m tests. Now when I test autos (btw Parnelli I have done a few Reviews a la your site ;) ), I save my game first and turn it off after I'm done. Anyways, I get an RX7 with the name 06.02 making the speed 666.66. No kidding, that scared me. And I had 6 of them, filling the first six spots on the record bar. :scared: My top time was 242-ish with the 'Scud, but I didn't make it wider or I would have gotten more ;).

No sir. I wish I could tell you that you're correct on this one. I've lost several garages due to saving after a test before I discovered all the info about the garage bug on this and other sites! I have 1.2 or whatever is latest in the USA.

Yeah, I think I saw some of your reviews and I started thinking ‘hmm, that looks familiar :) I think I saw one in the ‘car reviews’ post on this site, right?

Yup, when I started doing those tests, I was saving after most of them, and also I was sharing the records between all of my memory cards (about 7 of them at the time). Therefore, the thief got to lurk from one garage to the next. He must be a multi-millionaire by now. :( I actually caught him a few weeks ago still lurking on an old card. I went to drive an Infiniti Q20 and it had several thousand horsepower! I caught him early, tho...none of the other cars had been infected.

What I did was sold all the cars in that garage and started fresh. NOw I do all my tests on one ‘source’*memory card and share the records with the other cards only from the source card. I figured this out thru trial and error..wouldn't really recommend it to anyone...it seeems to be working now but who knows....

what garage bug are u guys talking about? i save after all licence tests and speed tests and nothing has happened...

Hopefully you'll never have to find out!

You'll see it in several ways: You might go into your garage and it'll say “No Name No Name” where a car should be. When you go to look at the car it'll have an insane amount of horsepower and weight like 900 lbs. or even 0 pounds...it'll not make any sense.

Sometimes, cars you've bought already will have this happen. You might have a car in your garage and one day it'll say that it's got 10,000 horsepower and weighs 22 lbs.. but when you try to race it, it'll do weird things like just sit there. or you'll only be able to drive it backwards.

Another way you can find it is to go into your max speed, 400m or 1000m records. Instead of your name being there, it'll say something that makes no sense. I actually saw this: Øra...#$@#+_)+ Mazda A Spec #) ¬ß°ßåø¶ˆ 666.66 mph. after awhile, ALL of your records will say this.

Finally, one day you'll go to your garage and it'll simply say N/A or something...all your cars are gone. I know it soudns like we're making this up but do a search under ‘garage bug’ it's happened to many of us...

Yes, it's a sad affair. I once entered a race with a Nonexistant car, a 'No Name' car. too bad the game froze, for obvious reasons . Yes, for the max speed thing I have a Mazda RX-7 A-Spec.... what do you think about the 666.66 mph?! Random or a programmer having fun? Sorry we've so painfully off your slightly juvenile topic, but hey one doesn't get flamed on the GT2 boards so wth. I just use one memory card.... but I'm real careful! And the test I did on the Cube is not very detailed at all. I've done somewhat more in-depth statistics (because I love numbers). 0-60 at ?time, 0-100 at ?time, 0-400@?mph, 0-1000@?mph, Top speed at '8' gear setting and lap time, vehicle weight, hp@rpm, torque@rpm, volume, displacement, available color schemes. One test for bare stock, another test for full mod vehicle. Several trims. :dunce:

Yup..666 mph. WTF is that all bout?

I was going to put the Cube on my site one day just for variety's sake..haven't gotten around to it. haven't got to lots of cars, actually...

That Garage Bug is true, It eats away at your game saves when you have a Multiple memory card like the NYKO X 72 Memory Card! I had the game saved on 22 different Sections of the card and some bug got a hold of 17 of them! It's better to use seperate single memory cards for GT2, Especially if you use the Test Tracks! My fastest speed on GT2 was right around 4000MPH before the car took off into space, I also could do a consistent 600MPH with my ClK Touring car...

Actually, your thumbnail says you were doing 600 kph..not mph. Still, that's pretty quick..translates to about 472 mph. No wonder you got airborne!

Actually 600 / 1.6 = 375 mph.... which is still way too fast of course! I'm assuming you used Gameshark?

Also, the sad thing is that the Intrepid is Front-wheel drive. ;)

That 1 might not be. In GT I had a Supra going over 410 KM/h, I have yet to test my Castrol Supra, Silvia & NSX LM. I haven't tested any cars in GT 2 yet, but I'll keep an eye out for the theif when I do.

Sweet! I tried doing that Motorsport glitch one day and couldn't get it to work...

Way to bring up a dead topic, guys. :P

Whatever. The Motorsport bug is actually very much a live topic for me, I tried to do it once and couldn't get it to work, so I'm amazed at Alonso's pictures, okay?

How I Did It: Either choose the Escudo, but also works fine with a race modded Fiat 500 here. Maybe it won't work for 10 laps, but keep trying.

When you come from the main straight,go flatout or make a little corner,so you hit the wall with say +- 50 degrees. NEVER TOUCH THE BRAKES! With some cars I had some problems, they were turning, but didn't tried Laguna yet
