Touareg Coupe on the way?

According to some sources, Volkswagen may be launching variants of their popular Touareg SUV. By 2007, the Touareg may have a coupe and pick-up truck version. The first model expected to be launched in 2006 is the coupe, which will aim to compete with the upcoming BMW X6. The second model, expected sometime in 2007, is a pickup truck based on the AAC Concept shown at the Detroit Auto Show in 2000. It is expected to compete with the proposed pickup truck from Mercedes Benz. VW hasn't confirmed or denied whether they will launch a Touareg coupe or a pickup truck, however VW is expected to release up to 13 new models in the next two years.

Well, the coupe idea is rather silly. But I'm not against the truck one, given the extra capability of a small bed in the back of the truck. Maybe if they can get it to have a bed ala Chevrolet Avalanche it wouldn't be too bad, but I'd have to see designs before anything solid can be said.

...But, I thought they were working on a sub-Touareg SUV?

(BTW: The new Vee-Dub van will share it's platform with the new Chrysler Town and Country/ Dodge Caravan)
