Can include non-starters as technically they entered but never actually raced and tests that never went anywhere.

Inspired by the GP Rejects article on the stillborn Brilliance WTCC entry in 2005.

That same year, MG Rover tried to enter the DTM before going bust, they got as far as signing Tom Chilton and other drivers linked included Johnny Herbert, Anthony Reid and Jeroen Bleekemolen.

Also, Andy Rouse built a Peugeot 406 and Jaguar X-Type as concept cars for his stillborn SCV8 Series. The series was originally intended to kick off in 2004 and the late Justin Wilson tested the Jag.

There was also the Touring 1 Series, devised by Jonathan Palmer, intended for a 2005 launch.

After the original Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft moved to Class 1 rules in 1993, BMW and Audi both built new cars for the class but declined to actually enter as works teams.

BMW built an E36 M3 prototype. It ended up as an uncompetitive private entry in 1994. As a works team BMW ultimately settled on non-M3 E36s for Class 2 supertouring.

Audi built a V6 Evolution prototype of their already-successful 80 Quattro. It never raced. Audi instead focused on its Class 2 supertouring 80 Quattro and then the widely successful A4.

According to Peter Riches, Nissan committed to returning to the British Touring Car Championship for the 2001 Season and BMW came close to doing likewise.
