G'day GTP chaps and chappettes. This is nothing more or less than a tribute and minor showcase for a car that I have recently become most enamored of in my little fantasy GT world - the 1969 Toyota 2000GT.

The 2000GT at La Sarthe

The fact that this is a Standard car notwithstanding, I can honestly say its my current favourite car to just take for a spin as well as use in as many seasonal events as I can tune it for. What a gem of a drive - with a full tune (Stage 3 and all extras) and Sports Hard tyres, the drive is sublime, making any track a joy of testing the balance on the edge of traction... and with only the Sports Exhaust fitted, the 6 cylinder burble is one of the better engine sounds that GT5 can boast.

Its a shame this car never made it to full production, given its thoroughbred Grand Tourer styling... a design that even in Standard mode in GT, still looks quite dashing (to my somewhat middle-aged eyes anyway :sly:).

Here's a little video tribute I made for it. Unfortunately, given my choice of soundtrack, the video may not be available in some countries or on mobile devices (copyright YouTube thingy) :indiff:

Best in 720p. I'll put a Mediafire link for the vid later on if anyone wants to download it in better quality...

I will also send out a few (gifted) 2000GTs in DLC chrome paint and my setup over this next week as well if anyone is interested. The setup I use is at the end of the video as well though if you want to try it. I'll shut up now... enjoy... if you want. :)

It wasn't selected to be a Bond car for nothing :)

There's so many great cars in GT5, I discover new every day. I wish I could drive them all, but there's no time :P

Ah yes, that's a great little car. You're right about the sound-it's got a nice vintage rumble.

Awesome vid, Chris. 👍 The magic you did with the colors on Mulsanne had me doing a double-take.

Good fun to watch 👍 Though I would argue that the 2000GT is hardly forgotten.

Though I'm biased in my JDM love

It's a great car, though I must admit I haven't driven mine for a while.
Even so I love it.

I hated it in GT4 though thanks to that special event on New York. Took me weeks to do that one stupid event :dunce:

I have a Thunder silver as well. And 6 of them with roll cages and various racing livery in FM4!

Nice to see this little diamond has its own admirers! 👍

Hah, thanks Lucas. Didn't pull that off perfectly but it was difficult to drive the exact same path 3 times. :sly:

She's such a beaut to drive on the 'ring :)

Would you trade for one of your beautiful chrome 2000GT's? :)

Definitely not forgotten!!
We in the VCRC raced this car just over a month ago! It was fantastic great fun!!!
...
This is one of my favourite cars in the game. 👍
That's fantastic. 👍 That's a race I would've enjoyed alot. Maybe a seasonal racing league with these beauties would be a good thing..? :)

And there's no need to chastise me for questioning if this car was forgotten, guys. I'm well happy it is still held in high regard. 👍

Would you trade for one of your beautiful chrome 2000GT's? :)
To quote everyone involved in F1... For Sure! 👍 Add me on PSN and I'll send it later on. :) Would you prefer it pre-tuned or stock and just resprayed with alloy wheels?

Good car on its own merit, but absolutely terrible by comparison.

It didn't use any new technologies. It cost way more than its competitors for luxury, style, and performance, and it was way under-performing for the cars it did cost similar to. They made only a few of them, and it was by no means innovative. It was an experiment, not a "super car", and an expensive one at that.

There is a reason it was forgotten, just so you all know. I find this to be one of the most overrated vehicles in history. Would I drive and own one over most cars? Hell yes. Is it worth seeking out and buying compared to other rare cars? Hell no.

Good shout Chris... the 2000GT really is a lovely car to drive 👍

There's always (at least) one. Before this degenerates into yet another circular and pointless internet ego match, who cares? My enthusiasm for it stems solely from my experience of driving it in GT5... its value or merit as a real-world prototype is irrelevant. 👍

Thanks Chris.

Ahhh I could do with one of these... anyone got a spare? The pics and vid make me

Pre-tuned please :)

Do you want anything for it? :)

Nice vid, and song selection.

I've always thought this car was one of the most beautiful to look at, and the vid makes me think I should get mine to a track and give your tune a try.

I have always thought its one of the most beautiful cars in the game, but when you think it was made in 69 you release its design was way ahead of its time.

Defensive much?

I don't think GhostZ informing us all about the car (with slight exaggeration perhaps) is such a bad thing. And he still called it a good car.

'Almost classic'? That's a bond car and has one of the best interiors of its time.

I would gladly own one, if I win a billion in the lottery.

They go for about £150,000 - £200,000 so you would really really have to want one !!!!

2000GT = awesome 450pp car for the Ring. Hands down a clear favorite of mine, even though it isn't the fastest in that class - it sure does bring the style though!
