A rare U.S. spec Toyota 2000GT was been sold for a price of $1.15 million in auction, the highest for a Japanese production car. Out of the 351 2000GTs ever made, only 62 were built in left-hand drive.

Timeless car. This and the Jag E-Type are some of my favorite designs of all time. Not surprised it sold for that much.

^ Agreed, it's very beautiful. Too bad not many people know what it is. A lot of people know what an E-Type is, not so much this beauty.

Actually, it feels like before much longer not many people will remember or care about cars like these. I feel like not many people give a damn about cars anymore. :ill:
But I digress, the point is the 2000GT is one of the most stunning cars of that time period and I'm sure both buyer and seller (especially the seller ) are very happy.
Too bad it won't get driven.

I have always loved the 2000GT, a few years a go I spotted a red one pass me by, I had no idea there was a 2000GT in my city so I followed the guy into a near by carpark and he let me have a look through it. He told me he has had a lot of collectors from the US try to buy it off him.

I saw one of these about a week and half ago at ToyotaFest. It was, no, is so beautiful and sleek that I got weak knees. After all, it is one of my hero cars. And if you think that BRZ is low, you're wrong. 2000GT requires Lotus Elise-levels of flexibility to get in. It's that small and low.

That makes it quite special that I worked on one of them, and of course drove it. I did not know that they were so rare. Incredible.
