Toyota Minolta Steering Issues

I am trying to find the fastest possible car for the like the wind race and have experienced best success with the Mercedes CLK-GTR and Saleen S7 because both of these cars can be handled with the regular Playstation 2 Controller when turning at really high speeds in this race. I see by the posts of others that the Minolta or GT-One will go even faster though. Tried both cars and they are absolutely impossible to turn with so i can't hit the speeds that others claim can be done with them. How do I modify the Steering on these two to be as easy to drive as the Saleen S7 or Mercedes CLK-GTR. Remember that I don't have any kind of wheel so they have to be settings that will work with the regular Playstation 2 Controller.

Perhaps you could let us know a little more about the turning difficulties you're having here?
I've used the Minolta Toyota at the Super Speedway, which has much tighter turns than the "Test Curse" (deliberate typo ;)) and it seems to turn perfectly well.
Are you using the Analogue sticks for steering or the D-pad buttons, as this may explain a little? 💡

Personally I'd played GT1, 2 & 3 using the controller, mashing the D-pad because I couldn't get used to the sticks. Steering in those previous games required you to correct direction after you'd steered, i.e. if you turned sharp left, you'd have to tap the right turn a few times afterwards to straighten up or you'd keep going left!
In GT4, the steering seems more like real life, where if you stop turning the wheels, they drift back to centre. Seeing as I was used to the correction technique from the old games, it became habit, and makes it more-or-less impossible for me to drive GT4 with the controller as I try to make the corrections with the controller that the game is already making for me, and very erratic driving ensues! (Ask anyone at SFGTP2 who saw me drive a Triumph Spitfire with a DS2! :ouch:) This is probably where your problem lies too, but I'm not sure how one would set up a car to compensate for this.

I can't really offer any more advice on controller driving in GT4 though as I pretty much went out and bought a wheel immediately after my first GT4 experiences, and haven't looked back since.

It sounds like you are referring to 300MPH settings, which are generally not (though there are exceptions) the best things to actually race in on Test Track races. For Like the Wind, I suggest just maxing the downforce front and rear, making the gears a little wider and raising the suspension a bit. You should be fast enough that the AI cannot catch you.

The first thing you need to do is have less camber on the car. On Test Course, I've found that you only need around 0.5/0.0 for camber as the cornering is so slight and easy. A decent amount of downforce and push 6th gear out past 240mph and you'll easily win the race, from memory with the AI most of the cars run out of puff around the 220-225mph mark with most of those cars. TVR Speed 12 and the W12 are slightly different though and get a bit higher than that. :)

P.S. I only use a DS2 WITH the pads....not the stick. ;)

i did B-spec on like the wind, one becuase i dont have the S license yet and two the computer can drive the cars around that track at almost any speed. i did it with the black nissan R92CP with a turbo and it went 250mph. on the max speed test it goes 310mph with NOS. lower the ride height all the way down and make the gears between pre-set 23-25. the R92CP is a handful over 260mph in a-spec so be careful.

I have big proplems with my toyota minolta 88c-v in race7 of gran turismo world championship (opera paris reverse) sometimes she understeers a lot and sometimes oversteers. I just can't make the hard turn's... somebody help!:nervous:

You might have to raise your ride height and/or soften springs. What's your susp. settings? I need more info.

Four things...

Speed 12 :sly:

1100 +HP :scared:

Race tires :dopey:

GT Wing 👍

You'll laugh your butt off as you destroy the AI with the only control requirements being some good throttle control and patience through the first 4 gears (and half-way through 5th, depending on ratio's)

Or if that doesn't float your boat, I've also done that race in the Option Ztream 350Z with 900-some HP and Race tires, stock settings with Nitrous 💡

finally! After hours and hours i did it with little special settings. suspension: camber 0,5/0,0, spring rate 10/11, height 75/75. lsd: 5 initial, 60 accelleration, 5 deceleration. transmission: 15. And I turned tcs little up to make my tyres last longer.
