Toyota has unveiled the 2015 TS040 Hybrid. It is the car tasked with defending Toyota's WEC World Manufacturers' and Drivers' Championships and perhaps most significantly with securing the company's first 24h du Mans victory.

While the car may appear similar to the 2014 car it is in fact 80% new with completely overhauled aerodynamics. It also has an updated supercapacitor with a superior power-to-weight ratio to the championship winning 2014 car and now sees the power peak at over 1000PS.

Car #1 will see World Champions Anthony Davidson and Sébastien Buemi joined by Kazuki Nakajima who will be competing in a full WEC season for the first time.

Car #2 will have Mike Conway promoted to a full-time drive this season alongside veteran drivers Alex Wurz and Stéphane Sarrazin.

Wait, isn't the modern Toyota LMP already in GT6? Or is that like a TS030 or something?

The TS030 is in GT6. This is the TS040, the next logical step up with a more advanced hybrid system and AWD.

Right, so a TS030 but better. Sorry, haven't played GT6 in ages

The TS030 Hybrid in GT6 is completely different to the Toyota Racing TS040 Hybrid WEC 2014 and this TS040 2015 spec. For 2014 the big change was a shift to a 4WD set-up when deploying the ERS power. The engine was also increased from a 3.4lt V8 to a 3.7lt V8 and a significantly higher capacity supercapacitor ERS. This new 2015 spec is 80% new with completely overhauled aerodynamics.

The TS030 is positively slow compared to the TS040.

I hope this car will take over the Minolta 88C-V as the fastest Toyota in game
Not a Chance . In the 1988 Le Mans , Roger Dorchy hit 249 mph on the mulsanne using Peugeot WM P87 , Using a Toyota Made 7NS4 Engine . The idea of a car that could reach Such a speed inspired The Nissan Racing Team ( NISMO ) Who built The Ledgendary R92CP . NOT 1 Hybrid In Sight !

........Still unconvinced of how it looks....wanna like it, buuuut, but, it looks so...hmm..hohum.

Hopefully this one will be available in GT7 in day 1.

And good luck to Toyota at Le Mans this year! Audi's winning streak is making the race quite boring for me and I wish anyone else takes the 1st place although I would prefer if Toyota did so.

Hopefully Toyota will finally earn their well deceived Le Mans win this year.

It would be more interesting if Nissan got first place.

But at this point, anything but Audi winning the race would be great...
