Introduced in the United States in 1995 as a replacement for the Hilux, the Toyota Tacoma was a compact pickup that attracted many young buyers. So how comes it can't do anything that a normal pickup truck does? Well, being Millenworks Racing, this has been specially modified for Hill Climbing events.
The body is made of carbon-fibre on a chrome-moly tubular spaceframe, while the power assisted steering helps keep the driver under control of the superbeast. The superbeast in question is a turbocharged 2.1 liter 4 cylinder from the IMSA Toyota Eagle mkIII, developing 800 horspower and 139.28 Kgf·m of torque, which is then forced into a 5 speed sequential. The transmission works like the Audi S1 Quattro; You push it away to change up a gear and towards you to change down.
After the car won the 1998 and 99 Pikes Peak events, it was one of the ultimate crowd pleasers at the 2003 and 07 Goodwood Festival of Speeds, where the pickup from hell stalled after it crossed the start line and then nearly ran into the back of the Bowler Nemesis.
So there you are. It sure is living like a rockstar.
