How annoying, in my book, track cutting means cutting the track in a way that would give me an advantage, like going in a straight line, through a curve or two, but getting bumped by the AI, ending up in the grass... on a straight, if I go in the same direction, in the grass, am I really track cutting or cutting the grass ? (bad joke, I know) It's making me mad, since 1 cut will cancel every lap you make. I don't care in a 2, 3, 4 or 5 lap race but in an endurance race, I'd like to keep my total race time.

I think they should keep that rule online (I've never cut track online) but offline, they should ease up on the rule a bit.

Any time you go off track and still improve your position it's counted as track cutting.

It does get annoying though...

In an enduro it'd be better if it just voided that lap. That would suck to lose the whole race time cause you were forced off. Only fix I can think of is reseting when you're forced off

I agree. It always seems to happen at donnigton. Because the grass is so wide, if you get smacked off and take a huge detour and end up in last, I don't think that should count for a penalty. What's stupid is at tracks like Emma pergussen you can cut all the chicanes with no penalty and there is a definite advantage from doing so. If cutting the track causes you to gain a position or stops you from losing one then a penalty should be imposed.

I found the track cutting rules in this game somewhat inconsistent. Like the previous poster said, you can pretty seriously cut some chicanes and make up some major times without penalties, but get knocked off into the grass on even sometimes very minor excursions on very long corners where you actually lose positions, and you get penalized. Doesn't seem right.

Your tires are still touching the track / curbs there, tho. :)

man the track cutting is ridiculous. I did the Spa GP endurance the other day, got to lap 17/20, spun out, slightly went off the track, slowed down, turned onto the track, and got a dam Track cutting warning saying my time isnt gonna show up. They need to lighten up on the track cutting thing, yeah its a nice feature if your racing against track cutters online, but for clean racers in career that accidentally go off the track to lose there enitre endurance time is stupid.

What makes me laugh now about this is that I was doing the Audi vs. Nissan manufacturer showdown race and I was leading going into the final corner and the AI driver cut into the pit lane entrance inside the final corner on the Nurburing Sprint course and passed me and I lost.

I haven't raced online to see how much the track cutting will bother me but I do get annoyed at the times I lose a time on errors not cuts yet at a track like Hockenheim there are place you can obviously cut and not get dinged. I have had occasions in the early BMW retro time attack that I know I blew a corner and should have lost the time but it was just fine with it.

One of the worst tracks to have this happen on is Nurburgring.

I ended up restarting the Modern A Nurburgring full course over 15 times last night. It got so frustrating that i went to bed.Woke up this morning and finally beat it.

The only reason i had to restart it was because i got forced off.It seems through the first few segments of the Ring the AI is very aggressive.

You guys are forgetting Autolog. Of course it is going to void your times, otherwise all the top autolog scores for each event will be constant track cutters. It HAS to void the whole race.

Well all your wheels are outside the white lines and those are what are considered to be the boundaries of the track.

They're not necessarily outside of the white lines if you go through the chicanes really fast. ;)

These guys are talking about when it voids your time after you go off track in such a way that does not benefit you. You shouldn't lose your time because you went off course.

Personally, I was playing one of the retro time attack races and I went half way off the left side of a track and got the notice, not even fully off the course.

Well it may not be within the letter of the law but it sure is in the spirit of motor racing.

Give them an inch and they'll take a mile. A little bit off the track here and there may not benefit you at all but if they add a "buffer" zone to the grass on the tracks then people will find a way to use it to their advantage. 2 wheels onto the grass can dynamically change the racing line either for setting up for a corner or by moving the apex a tyre width into the grass.
