Tracks without pitlane?

It occurred to me today, that some tracks in GT5P do not have a pitlane. (Eiger, London) That basically means you could not race on them with tire-wear or fuel consumption. Incidentally, those are also the tracks with reduced fields of cars (12 instead of 16).

I emphatically hope there will be pits for all tracks in GT5 as I'm a fan of longer races.

Does anyone remember which tracks in GT4 didn't have pits? I think I remember that all tracks where only 2 cars were allowed to drive at the same time didn't have any. (Rally tracks, Costa di Amalfi)

Yes, it was only the ones with two cars (the "rally" tracks) which didn't have a pitlane, except Tsukuba Wet.

I don't mind if Eiger is considered a rally track. I don't really like it as a racetrack - it's too twisty and it seems silly with no curbs, walls, runoff etc.

One could be added to London easily I reckon, for the full game.

If you look about on Eiger there seems to be a paddock area with big tents and such like straight ahead at the bottom of the hill after the big jump. You can see it better from going in reverse, maybe the pits are only in the longer version of this track. Maybe same with London as there is also a longer version of this track.

I believe Kaz has said that there will be a "London GP" (ie longer) circuit, one that will include pits. As for Eiger, I haven't played Prologue, but I'm led to believe it's counted as a tarmac rally circuit like Citta di Aria or Costa di Amalfi.

Suzuka West has a pit lane. It's just that the circuit is never used anywhere outside Arcade and World Circuits.

The pitlane at Suz West, in GT4, is blocked off by an invisible wall. Much like the pit lane that serves as the entrance to the Nurburgring, along the back straight. They're both too short/small to be used in competition.

Eiger Nordwand is listed in either GTHD or GT5P as a 'Short Course'... somewhere, I just can't recall exactly where. If you look at the map of the track at the Mechanic screen, you can see the shadowing around the track. Eiger has two cut-off off shoots, and London has 4 of them (Two intersections), indicating that there are longer versions of the two.

London will get a longer version in GT5, thats already confirmed.
I doubt Eiger will get a longer version though, i think it will be handled in GT5 like Citta di Aria etc. in GT4, as a Rallye track.

I dont really get what you mean with the Nordschleife though, the Nordschleife pitlane was used in GT4, the entrance on the Döttingerhöhe isnt a real pitlane and back in the days of the original real life Nordschleife, they also used the Südschleife as a start/finish and this had a pitlane too, nowadays they use the one from the GP track.

Sorry, I meant IRL, if you go to run the Nordschleife on an open day, you enter the track from the toll gate on the straight. You end your lap by pulling off there as well.

That 'pitlane', if you can call it that, is blocked by an invisible wall, in GT4.

True, well spotted! I hope they cut out the hairpin section on Eiger and replace it with more sections like the rest of the lap. Then we would have a racetrack which feels like a racetrack and not a rally course, while the short version could be used for special conditions.

I hope they put in some walls and rumbles though...

I do hope in GT5, the Nordscheliefe track is connected to the Nurburgring F1 track- whicn btw is how the Gran Turismo sponsored 24hr of Nurburgring is run.

I hope the same! I've posted this a couple of times before - I think it might be essential for the GP circuit to be connected for 16 car races with fuel consumption and tyre wear because I have no idea how 16 cars could fit in the pits used in GT4.

I've actually done a lot of thinking about pit lanes on the original GT circuits. Most of them appear to be able to handle larger grids, but then there's a select few which I'm a little concerned about. Eg. Autumn Ring Mini, New York and Hong Kong.

The first cut off makes sense, there is this small path going uphill, but the second one in front of the tunnel would lead to nowhere.

EDIT: No, wait, theres a turnoff in front of the tunnel.
Hmmm.....

Like others already said: The tracks can be customised. I mean, the Eiger Nordwand track in GT5Prologue is also a diferent track than in GTHD:

In GT5 P, the road is wider and there are dandelions in the grass. Also the graphics are better, and like Kazunori mentioned: Gt5 will also look better than GT5P.

Pick one of the tracks in arcade mode or in an Online event, and at the 'Mechanic's' screen, where the AI can be seen woefully driving your car around the track, and there's a map of the track there as well. The shadowing there is very well defined for Eiger and London.

I love the hair pins in Eiger, but a really long (like long) version of Eiger would be fantastic, just imagine racing round all the scenery, epic.

For London like mentioned pits could easily be added, like in Hong Kong where the pit lane was a different street the same could be applied.

on eiger there is also a turnoff just after the hairpins, and before the brigde. as far as i can tell, that might be the road to the tents(garage, pitlane, or what you want to call it)
