Race Day Schedule
The room number will be posted at the bottom of this post at 10:15 EST.

*Practice = 30 minutes from room being opened

*Qualifying=15 minutes prior to race
1.) Once qualifying is started, you must not leave the track/pits.
2.) The Auto-Start for the race will be set to 15 minutes at the start of qualifying.

*Race Details and Rules= Race start time 11:00pm EST
1.)The race will be 20 laps (35-40 minutes), with one mandatory pit stop.
2.)The race will begin from a standing start. NO pace lap.
3.) Maintain the use of proper racing etiquette at braking points, and your line in the corners.
4.)No blocking or erratic swirving on the straights. You may, however, cross the track to set up for a racing line.
5.) Damaged cars or cars out of contention should move off the racing line for passing cars.
6.) Pit lane entry and exit markings must be obeyed.
7.) NO Shortcutting corners. The green aproning/curbing will be considered legal as long as at least 2 wheels remain on track. Minor offense: is considered to be when all 4 wheels rode onto green curbing without reaching grass. Major offense: blantant cut through grass which will be grounds for a DQ.
8.)Race to the finish. Standings will be posted after the race.
9.) In the event of a racing incident /accident/shortcut, the person who caused contact or cut a corner must yield the position(s) back to the involved driver(s) to avoid placement penalty(s). If this courtesy is not returned immediately during the race, please continue racing and report your complaint to me by PM afterwards to be reviewed. If no fault is found, the race standings will be posted of the actual finishing order. If a review shows fault without courtesy being given as stated above, the at fault driver will be placed: ONE position behind the involved driver(s) for incidental/accidental contact that resulted in a driver being overly pushed off his line, or for a minor shortcut. TWO positions for aggressive driving contact that caused an off course. Or, a DQ for obvious abusive or retaliatory contact that caused an off course/accident, and for major short cutting. Please honor these rules and all will have an enjoyable and hopefully intense race, or for an offender the race could become a waste of your time.

I would be interested.
Why not include the Challenger RM?

Maybe have ABS turned off as well. Since these cars never had ABS. I know that sounds crazy, but with a little bias adjustments & a little practice, it's not that bad.

Anyways, count me in if this happens.

This IS how I will be driving in the regular season.

Sounds good, thanks for the interest. If I get enough interest, and/or requests for the use of the Challenger, I would gladly open use to this car as well. As for the abs, I'll have to think about that idea. It would be more true to these cars, I would just want to be sure that we could stage a clean enough race without. I'll clarify further as we gain we interest in this series.

If it was the 2010 camaro and Saturday at that time I might be intrested

Thanks for the interest. The idea of this series is the '60's/'70's Trans Am racing; Camaro, Challenger, and I would include the Shelby GT350 if it were not too disadvantaged, though would allow it if specifcally requested to be used. I hope you would consider this race. It should be fun to run and later play back on replay.

Having ABS off really gives these old cars a "drive by the seat of your pants" feel. But I know that getting a clean race with it off will be next to impossible. It is fun though.
You really have to resist the urge to "slam" on the brakes, and feather the brakes going into a turn like you would with the accelelarator exiting a turn.

I might know of a another person or 2 that might be interested. I co-hosted a similar series as this one for 3 seasons. Hard to get people interested in driving old cars when most people would rather drive super GT.

does the shelby GT350 have to be RM or anything cause if not i would be intrested to join

James6653, I don't think there is a RM upgrade for the Shelby so I think it may be at a disadvantage on handling, but advantafed in power. I'm going to do some time trial tuning to get it's specs within range of the others. My hope is to get a rounded PP number to bring them all to a very even spec. Keep an eye on the thread for detailed specs, but yes a normal GT350 will be included for this series.

And Skeletor, please bring them on board if you can. I still may consider ABS off of we get a good field of racers.

Fair warning, You will never get the GT350 to come close to being equal with Challenger RM and Camaro RM. Maybe if you put racing softs on it and comfort hards on the two RMs.

If you really want a ford, throw the GT40 in there (69') even though it still can not match the two RMs.

I hosted and setup three seasons of Trans Am racing with multiple styles of racing and car selections. The ultimate demise of the series was lack of people.

But here are examples of our success though

Never got around for group photo after Season Three, however here is our Indy Race.

I used to race with Skelator and Kal. I'm in.
GTP-GTMail
PSN-cahilldomination
Car-Camaro RM
Color- Matte Orange
Number- ughhhhhh...96 I think

Also, you should think of bumping the cars PP up a bit because the Challenger will get absolutely rolled at that low HP and PP level. The power limiter being so low on the Challenger will effect the top speed which is the only thing that makes the Challenger better.

We are using the 1970 dodge challenger RM this race right cause if so I'm in

james, you're all over the place. 1st you want the '10 SS, then you want the GT350, now the '70 Challenger RM.

Nice to see you around again GTMail. I think the Challenger can handle a lot better then what people give it credit for.

I've updated my first post with a photo of my car.

You guys trying to sneak this one by me?:P The start time is a little late for me, but I'll give it a shot. First choice would've been the Camaro, but if I use it then I can't blame the car for getting beat by Skel.... better go with the Challenger then, #7 :D

You should have gotten a message via PSN about this series. Unless your blocking me too?!

Oops, didn't see it. When I turn on the RaceStation 3 that means its time to race, I don't always have time to check all of my fan mail. :D

I'm glad to see some interest in this series. I agree, the GT350 is at quite a disadvantage, but I have allowed it in case someone specifically wants it. I'm more interested in the RM Camaro and Challengers for this series, and at 540pp they seem very close. The challenger has more torque and less understeer than the Camaro, but the Camaro is lighter and has more top end. At Laguna Seca with 3 laps on each, they posted a best time within 3 tenths of each other, with my tunes and driving style. With a good tune and the right driver, the Challenger I think could overcome the Camaro.

Mudd, that's really funny by the way.

Yea, PD really hosed the Ford guys by not having a mustang race car in any year. But we've been over that 1,000 times already. I would think the Mach 1 would have a better chance at being competitive at 540pp then the GT350R, since it doesn't handle like it came straight out of hell.

But the bottom line is that Ford just isn't a good choice.

This could be a very good series. Yeah, Kaz really porked anybody trying to recreate this series in the game. For 1 thing the Shelby GT350-R isn't even really an R-model, it's a stock GT350 except for the weight being very low. the R-models were rated at 365HP vs. 306HP (of course anyone that's into these vintage racing cars knows that once fully prepped for racing all entries were making well over 400HP) for the street model and had side exhaust coming out just in front of the rear wheels and the TorqueThrust wheels which most of the cars running in that series had. The car in game has the standard GT350 Magnum 500's. Also there was no such thing as a Challenger R/T Trans-AM car, Big blocks weren't allowed. Chrysler ran the Challenger T/A's and Barracuda AAR's. Basically a race prepped and de-stroked 318. Max displacement for the series was 305cu-in's. Minimum weight was 2800lbs thru 1969 and was changed to 3200lbs. in 1970.

In my opinion you should ditch the RM's and just run the street versions and try to spec them out like the originals. Then you could add the Mercury Cougar and Plymouth Cuda to your list too, making more variety in the field. Between Modifications and Ballast and Limiter options you should be able to come up with evenly matched cars. Just have to do a good bit of testing at all the tracks to even them up. As we all know HP to weight ratio and PP means diddly in GT5. The only way to get them truly even is through testing.

PD put a lot of cars in this game and it's no surprise there's discrepancies. Also no surprise Japanese program developers don't know jack about US muscle cars. It would be nice if there was more options available in the RMs. I have too thought about maybe just running stock body cars & have more car variety, but the real problem is that most of the people that like racing old muscle cars want to race Daytona Super Speedway all day long.

You could spend a lot of time preparing a great setup for a series like this, but it's really hard to find committed racers.

Your input is very valid.
