Transfer cars to GT5 without the PSP?

So I have played GT PSP for a while now and have all the cars that I want to transfer to GT5. If I were to sell my PSP and games, can I transfer my cars to the PS3 from the save game on my Memory Stick, or will I need the PSP system and game to do so?
I really don't have the time any more to start a new GT from scratch...

Or is how the transfer will work even known yet?

In the manual it says that you need to connect your psp to the ps3 by usb so you probably couldn't without a psp.

Oh well... guess me keep it till (if?) GT5 comes out.
