Transmission flip?

The fact all the views on many pages and no replies tells there is one. But NOBODY want to reply. Gotcha.

I spent about 2 hours at the drag strip this weekend experimenting with transmissions. You can still flip, but the current state of transmission tuning is extremely... Uh... Volitile.

Each individual hear can, and regularly will, change not only the current setting of an adjacent gear, but also the RANGE of the gears to the side of it.

There's videos of some bugs, I'm not sure if this one is even a bug, I think it's by design, but if you tried to set 1st gear for a perfect launch and get it right... And then update 2nd gear, when you change the 2nd gear it will change your first gear. You can go back to 1st and you'll see that the ranges it can be adjusted to are now even wider than they were a second ago.

Ultimately, the transmission as a whole has an extremely bigger range of adjustments than it did in Sport, so the combinations are significantly increased overall. There are still some discrepancies in my opinion where total gear (final*individual) should be consistent but simply isn't, and will have different effects. I also noticed the final drive can alter the amount of rev bounce on the high end, which can be used to your benefit.

In conclusion, I would personally recommend everyone wait before investing any significant amount of time into transmission tuning for the time being. If you decide to ignore this advice, I STRONGLY suggest you write your work down somewhere, because it is my personal opinion that a potential patch in the next few weeks will address some of these oddities and it may clear any work you have put into these transmissions and you'll lose your progress.

I tune the trans on special stage route X.
Custom Race.
Number of cars 2.
Go.
I pull over at the start and let the one guy go.
Then I test the cars transmission, gears, and top speed.
Leave one screen back, change stuff, do it again, leave, ect.
It's nice and quiet, you can really hear each gears cycles.

I know this doesn't touch your question, but I figured Id throw this out there. Its the fastest and easiest way to constantly make small changes and check it.

Any update on this?
