So I've recently got around to buying one, but I'm having problems setting up the transmission due to it's power curve(power rises sharply to it's max @5250 RPM, and falls sharply again to the rev limiter @7200 RPM).
I tried first setting it up for a drag race on the Top Gear track, and only managed to hit 188mph by the end of the runway(poor IMO)
Then, while testing the top speed, I spend a long time trying different setups, and managed to hit 229mph on the straight at Le Mans.

Does anyone have any tips or a good setup for this car?(either for any sort of drag racing or getting a good top speed)

I've read the ''definitive GT5 transmission tuning guide'' btw, but I still didn't help me improve my speeds.

I, looking too. I have an alright tune. It has its wins but I do need help. Because of my inexperience. And I don't see them out often

Wallbangers Cafe and Outlaw Motorsports have one as does Clueless Tunes. Try those, but be warned it is a very tough transmission if you use an auto trans. :dopey:

You can't use auto in this car and expect to be quick. You will need to shift at or just after the HP peak with a manual.

Car makes a lot of power down low through to the HP peak.. so long gears and suit the FD to the track. This ain't your ricer that needs short gears and lots of gear rowing.

Your right, if your drag racing with this car you need a manual transmission. That being said an automatic transmission will work for circuit racing though generally speaking driving with a manual transmission regardless of the car will be faster if your a good driver.

I'm not that great driving a manual transmission so I did my "Hellfish" transmission to allow me to drive the Cuda with an automatic. It's not perfect but works as well as or better than any other transmission setup I've seen for this car if your driving it with an automatic due to its very odd and unfriendly power curve. The cars power curve especially when maxed out doesn't just fall off drastically from peak to redline but actually bottoms out several hundred rpms short of redline making it very hard to get the car to shift up into 5th gear with an automatic unless you go with a very odd setup like I have.

As for the speeds the OP listed they sound about right for the car. I think the only times I exceeded his listed top speed was when drafting on Daytona. With an automatic transmission my "Hellfish" runs about 219-220mph on Daytona without drafting, using a manual transmission you may be able to squeeze a couple more mph out of it but I wouldn't count on it.

The bigger the gap between peak power and redline, the bigger the gap between auto vs manual transmission in terms of being faster

It would have been nice if PD gave auto users the option of selecting a shift point instead of having the auto run up to redline.

Maybe.. ;) But I guarantee a manual will get to that max speed faster.
