Transmission Tuning - Final Ratio

Reading of various tunes I'll see a final drive ratio, e.g. 3.3:1, which is self explanatory. But some tunes refer to a final drive as a four digit number, e.g. 5500.

What is this and how would set it in this manner, as all I can see is the ability to set a ratio?

Where did you see 3.1:1 and on what tune and can show me the link to it please.

3.3:1 is 3.300:1
5500 is 5.500:1

Yes, that explains it. Had considered that, but then wondered why not just write 5.500:1 instead of 5500?
