Trims

How about this. You are given the base model, and you get to chose what trim you want. This way, you don't have to look at every different version of the same car, you just chose a car and upgrade it according to your liesure and budget. You could click on a car, and a window would pop up with all available trims and their prices, and you would select the one you want. Trims would include base model, performance model, tuner edition, and racing edition.

11 different thread on the 1st page. You could have done a thread like "Classic Anycar's GT5 suggestions" or something

And about your idea, I don't think we need that. I'm okay with choosing cars the way it is now.

Weel apart from tuner edition and racer edition, I agree it could be interesting having it done like that, the racing version and any tuner versions always come AFTER the base model is bought, unless it's a pre tuned car then you buy it as a seperate model or if it's a pre-built race car you buy it as a seperate model ect. But chossing a base model then the engine, interior ect could be interesting. The only thing is, it could mean you have to select the car, then go through the list of options just to check the price. Having each trim available seperately means you can glance at each car and see the price without faffing about selecting loads of options. It'd be cool at first but when you start buying cars more often it'd just become something to make the process longer. And early on it could be irritating too thinking I can buy that 2.0 Clio now only to go into the Clio model, select all the options to bring the base 1.2 upto the 2.0 spec you want, only to find you don't actually have the cash.

perhaps if it is implemented in such a way that you select the Clio range (using Live's example) and then a bulletted menu comes up showing the the trim levels:

Something like:

Car: Renault Clio

1.2 _______________________ 6,995Cr
1.6 _______________________ 9,500Cr
2.0 sport __________________ 12,250Cr
3.0 V6_____________________ 27,850Cr

From here there could be an option to buy straight away, view a more in depth description of improvements over the previous model, and finally a specify option in case you wanted the 1.2 engine version (perhaps to enter a specific series) but would like to upgrade the suspension, gearbox etc. to that of the 2.0 sport model. It would also be nnice to see more trivial options such as wheels and factory aero packages.

Admittedlyy with a clio the choices would be rather limited but something like this would certainly allow us to make more sense of the R34 Skyline range as seen in GT4.

In that example the 3.0 V6 is a totally seperate model so that'd have to be represented as such although having it more simple like that would be a lot better, at the end of the day I still only see it as adding a few more button presses to the process of buying a car.

That sounds pretty cool. And it would save a whole lot of time thumbing thru loads of different models just to find one type of car.

I like it.

It may save you time and money when selecting a car, but it adds to the number of cars that are in the game, which may cut another one of your favorite models out of the lineup...

But seriously, on how many cars is it going to help? It may be nice on say, a VW Golf... But with cars like the Mustang which currently is only sold with a V6, a V6 Pony Package, and the GT...It really donst matter because anyone with two cents in their head is going to buy the GT...

how do u mean with the performance stage? just buy a package and then its fully tuned? i wouldn't like that... i wanna tune cars like in previous GT games... but racing modifications should be back in. like in your exampel... and it should depend on what car it is. an old corvette for exampel, shouldn't be able to make a tuner car of... and a '88 Ford Thunerbird for exampel. could have racing modification like this:

Dragrace Pro Stock:

The base model was the Ford Mustang. The performance model was the Ford Mustang GT, being that it has a larger engine. The tuner model is a Roush Mustang. Roush is a tuner of Mustangs, much like TOM'S is a tuner of Supras. If you want to tune it yourself, don't buy the tuner version.

I can imagine how crazy your idea would get with some of the '60s muscle cars, i.e. everything from a Slant-Six powered "stripper" 'Cuda all the way up to a Hemi with all the toys. Also, if they decided to include, say, '66 full-size Chevys, you could get everything from a straight-six Biscaynne two-door sedan all the way up to a loaded big-block Caprice with dozens of variants and combinations in between. It's a neat idea, sure, but I personally don't think it'd be very practical.

It sounds like a good idea, but something tells me we'd get alot of sub-menus.

BUY CAR:
~Choose Trim
~Choose Color

It might be easier just to put the add the cars to the dealer and keep it the way it is since people are are already complaining about there being too menus.
