triple monitor setup

Hello

Me and a couple of friends wants to do the 24 hour race with a triple monitor setup and I was wondering if I need the same copy of the game gt5 on all playstations?
for example if I have the academy edition but my friend only has the normal gt5 will it then still work?

I'm pretty new to gt5 so I apoligize if this is a stupid question

Im guessing as long as they're all updated to the same version it should work. I'd love to have a triple monitor setup, but funds, and the girlfriend wont allow me to! Let me know how it is.
