Quick summary at bottom

Okay, so my PS3 bricked after 2 days into GT6 and I ended up getting it fixed (not through Sony). I got it back a while later and I had to start my save file again but I realized I was given back the wrong HDD (40gb instead of 160gb), but the place was closed and I was deprived of GT5 for nearly two weeks so I went ahead and started playing anyway and made some progress through career mode.

I had an old 40gb HDD sitting around from an older dead PS3 that I used instead of that 40gb in the console since it wasn't mine and I didn't really want to use it, but that's irrelevant to all this anyway. I saved my data onto a USB stick and then got my 160gb HDD back the next day.

I put my data on the 160gb HDD and went to install GT6's update but I just couldn't get it to work. Tried many things and eventually I thought, whatever, I'll just keep playing with the 40gb HDD which has the update installed on it, and figure out this connection/update problem down the road.

So I made my way a bit more through the game and cleared Novice, B class and maybe A class by the time I was able to install the update on the 160gb and permanently switched over to that HDD to continue the rest of the game after moving my save file over.

I've now beaten the game completely (102%) but I am missing trophies for completing Novice, B and A class, as well as the Goodwood Regular trophy (and another two-three that you can get any time). I received those trophies with the other HDD and since I switched over after beating them, the game/PSN doesn't recognize me as having those trophies.

Now there are some trophies you can get by doing certain things, but these events are progress based. I've beaten those events and I don't have the trophies... I've also tried beating all the Novice events in the same session (all events, even the license events and coffee break mission although I know that one doesn't count).

Is there anything I can do to reclaim those trophies? I mean, honestly, I couldn't give a hoot about trophies in general but since it's Gran Turismo I'd like to complete the game 100% and I did so with GT5 as well. Other games I have no interest at all but with GT it's just like... why not? I play it enough to do absolutely everything there is to do, and it kind of bothers me that I don't have those trophies even though I should have them.

I just thought maybe I could put in the other HDD into my PS3 that I started with and sync the trophies but I just recently sold that HDD with that older PS3 I had (it bricked a few years ago and getting the newer PS3 fixed reminded me to sell it while it's worth something)... So that's not an option, but I'm not sure that would've worked anyway...? Why should it matter when the save file is the same?

Does anyone have a solution to this?

TLDR
-Started GT6 on one HDD, got a bunch of trophies
-Switched over to another HDD with same PS3
-Brought over save file but trophies that I had unlocked on old HDD are not recognized
-Beaten the game and redid events that unlock those trophies, still don't have them
-No longer have that first HDD I started with
-Is there a way to get those trophies back?

I'm pretty sure you need to start up each game to have it display that games trophy data again. I recall that working for me years ago. Your actual trophy data should be unaffected as it's save on Sony's servers.

Edit: I didn't read the full post and see that's not your issue. You probably didn't sync them with the server before changing the HDD. Not sure how to fix that as you save recognizes you already accomplished it so it may not trigger the trophy unlock again.

Yeah, that's what's I figure, but it's pretty stupid. Worst case I guess I can just save my data to a USB stick, delete it on PS3, start a new game and get those trophies I'm missing, and then delete that temp save file and put back my real save data? That seems to make sense theoretically since the trophies don't seem to be tied to the save data but instead the PSN account. Am I right? And that won't mess with my real save file or anything either, right?

Of course if there's an easier way I'm all ears though, but I guess that might be my only option.

That should work if you want to take the time and effort. Yes, trophies are tied to the account and not the save as far as I know.

For the record, I decided to start another save to get the trophies. Copied my real save, deleted it, started the game from scratch and got all three trophies for completing Novice, National B and A. It turns out to get the trophy you only need to unlock the next class, so you just gotta receive 20 stars (7 race wins) to unlock the license tests, and then just beat the license tests and you'll get the trophy. Didn't realize that for Novice and National B so I did a few more races than I had to, but only 5-6 extra.

I should add I got the Goodwood Regular trophy with my real save before I started the new one. All I had to do was go to the Goodwood special events page and click on an event and it gave it to me, without even going to one of the events. So now I have all the trophies that aren't repeatable and I feel better now. Just gotta get the last few to get the platinum.

Anyway, thanks mcfizzle, and if anyone has similar problems to me in the future, I hope this helps clear up what is required to get those trophies.
