Troubles with car setup??

Hey Guys,

I'm new around here but not new to GT. I've had GT1 right through to GT3. However, I am new to drifting. My drift car right now is a 300ZX TT mildly tuned to about 350HP and I'm using sim tires. Now, I have no problem getting the car sideways through a turn, but for some reason it appears as if the TCS and the other (driver assist??) assitance device kicks in as soon the car gets sideways and then it fights the drift. Does anyone know how to disable the TCS and driver assist thing?? Cause I think this is really holding me back.

Also I find it really hard to do a high speed drift. Low speed drifts are easy because the power of the car is soo great that over steer is easy.

HELP..

Yea. Just like go to run and settings. go to settings. then Settings again. Go to the last one on the right like the circular thingy. And its there. ( i forgot all the names sorry)

Whooh..... I'm confused. I found in the settings menu (when you are about to do a race) there is a setting for automatic/manual transmission, TCS and the driver assist thingy. I have both the TCS and driver assist thingy turned off..... but when I'm on the track trying to do my thing... the TCS and assist lights on the tachometer start blinking like they are working or something.....

Arrrgh..

Aaaah, those are for while you're in arcade mode. TCS and ASM controls for Simulation mode are in the Car Settings, not Options.
Car settings are accessed before you start a race. like the 3rd or forth yellow button over right before you start a race
Once you're in settings then choose Car Settigns (2nd choice down the settings list). ASM and TCS control are in the last page of settings. You'll get it.

Cool..... I know the menu you are talking about. I did not notice any settings for TCS and ASM though. I will have to take a second look. Vinkento..... do you think that this is what is holding me back from some *****ing drifts?? haha... oops. Guess you cant say *****ing.

If you're a natural at drifting in games, then settings are surely holding you back. But drifting all nice like in GT3 isn't as easy as some of us would like others to think. Though after alot of time actually doing it, you get the feel for it and it's almost like it's completely normal whle you're driving to stab the brakes during an entry and give the crowd a show.

Yah... I hear you. When I first started to drift (mind you this was with the TCS and ASM) I was like...... Holy sheeat this is hard. I'm thinking that once I get those settings changed, things will come a little easier....

Thanks for the help guys,

Ok.... I found the settings to turn off TCS and ASM. I turned the TCS right off, but found that the car was sooo hard to control. I think I've set it to about 3 after doing a bit of drifting last night. But..... MAN is it hard. After 3 hrs of practicing last night on Apricot, I was getting half decent. I think in another few hours of practice, I should be pretty decent on Apricot.

Special Stage Route 5 is one of the best place to learn in my opinion. If you can drift there, it can usually be taken to any other track without much problems =)

It's also the stage I tune most of my exhibition drift cars at.

IMHO, ASM and TCS should stay at "0" whenever drifting is involved. :) It may be harder to get used to at first but you can do so much more without those silly aids.
