Nicest part of hell
Hello!

I have a problem, I hope you guys can help me or at least help me to identify the problem. :)

I do exercise every single day, for about two hours high intensity with free weights, curls, bench pressing, cycling and I receive really great results, can't complain about that. I couldn't feel any better.
However, whenever I try to take a rest from exercising I suddenly feel really bad, just pausing my training for two days makes me feel extremely tired, my heart rate is all over the place, my arms and legs feel numb and weak, I have troubles breathing and I feel restless. Just horrible. I feel totally sick. :indiff:

And I can't do anything about it except doing some kind of exercise.
It feels like taking a few days off to regenerate has the opposite effect on me.

Does anyone have an idea of what that is? Is that some kind of exercise addiction? As far as I can tell its really not a mental problem, I really want to take a day off sometimes, but I simply can't because it makes me feel so bad.
Could it be possible that my body got too used to my daily exercise routine?

Unless someone on here is highly educated in this, it would be unfair for us to speculate. I'd suggest talking to your doctor about it. Exercise addiction does exist, so it's better to take it safe and talk it over with an expert. One of the easiest ways to spot an addiction is if you can't set aside whatever you're addicted to even if it means you'll be experiencing negative consequences.

2 hours a day with weight training is a lot, the training itself is likely giving your body something that causes it to release energy (i know i feel more energetic after a workout), if you're working out everyday for that long then your body is expecting it. How is your diet? what time of the day are you doing these workouts? are you doing weights daily? or are you mixing it up with some days weights and others for cardio?

You want to talk to an expert on this, your best bet being fitness and/or bodybuilding forums, or you could talk to your doctor.

Thanks for the replies!

How is your diet?
My diet is totally normal I guess, I really don't pay much attention to it but I don't eat much sugar, I stay away from soft drinks, I get my daily load of vitamins through various fruits and I eat lots of meat - and a little bit too much salt I have to admit.
And I'm a milk addict. :sly:

what time of the day are you doing these workouts
Coming home from work (5 PM) I usually take a nap till 7, eat dinner at 8 and I work out from 10 to 12 o'clock. I go to bed at 2 PM. But I don't rush my daily exercise, I make regenerative breaks of 10 minutes between the sets.

are you doing weights daily
Almost. My routine:
Day 1: Negative biceps curls, 100 lbs 8 reps 3 stints, 85 lbs 8 reps 3 stints, and 110 lbs squats 20 reps 3-4 stints
Day 2: 235 dumbbell bench press, 8 reps 3 stints, 210lbs 8 reps 3 stints, 2x55 lbs dumbbell butterfly 8 reps, 4 stints,
Day 3: 2x70 situps holding a 11 lbs weight, 1x50 slow situps without weight. Situps really exhaust me and I have to make 20 minute breaks.
Day 4: 44 lbs triceps curls, 8 reps 4 stints, 245 lbs shrugs, 8 reps 4 stints, 220 lbs shrugs 8 reps 2 stints
Day 5: Cycling, 65-100 kilometers, very hilly terrain or mountain hiking, 10-12 hours.
And then I start with day 1 again.

I'm already doing this routine for quite some time now, I thought maybe its time for taking a few days off, relaxing, just for some diversity. I kinda feel mentally exhausted sometimes, like my mind can't keep up with my body. :indiff:
Don't get me wrong, I love exercising and after some workout I feel like I could rip trees out of the ground, but sometimes things gets very tedious.

i agree, that's probably the best idea.

So you're doing a lot of high intensity and high weight so I assume you're trying to grow a lot of muscle? But then all of that cycling is going to almost give you the opposite effect in that it will burn fat and muscle.

You're also not giving your body any real time to repair with that routine, leaving a day here and there inbetween the weight training and doing some lighter cardio might help, i mean it is so massively dependant on how your body works, the type of results you're going for and what you can fit around your work time wise.

If you look at your day 5 that is some intense cardio excersise but it is the complete opposite of what you're doing with your weights training. Though obviously if it works for you it works for you.

The one thing i can suggest is taking a look at your diet, in terms of being in shape and managing your energy throughout the day, fitness and achieving your goals, diet is a massive important part (in some cases the most important part).

Bodybuilding/Fitness forums are the place to go for this, i am just another fitness enthusiast who is likely no more informed than yourself.
