Trueno. Price? where?

If you're located in the States, look for "Corolla GTS", not "Trueno". But honestly, don't be a fanboy about this. The '86-gen Corolla ia a decent handling car with a slightly sporty feel, but it's really an economy car. The 4AG engine is torquey for a four, and pretty tough, but the car is not magic or anything, and it's 15-17 years old at this point. It will look, feel, and drive like an old car. It's not going to be a rocket or a kart without a lot of knowledge, time, and money invested in it.

It's so funny seeing how many kids want these cars because of stupid crap like Initial D.

I know, I like to laugh at them. Initial D could've used a '02 Buick Century and people would be all over that.

Is Initial D the movie/clip based on the game? Or is the movie based on the game?

I've never really been into cartoons, so I've never really took the time to watch them.

I agree with Doug here, there's not much of a reason to buy an old Corolla, considering the other cars you could get.

Ok, I might not have made my self clear when I put out my thread but I would like to know where to buy a Trueno and how much they cost. I rely don't care what you think about people that wont one just because of the manga. I wan't lot's of other cars but I wouldn't want to buy insurance for them so please back off and ancwer my question ok, just because I am a geek doesn't mean you can't treat me with respect ok.

1985-87 Toyota Corolla GT-S has become a cult favorite car for autocrossing, canyon carving, and drifting competitions. In my opinion, the car isn't atronomical but still a great car. The GT-S motor, 4A-GE isn't all that great, it produces only 115hp at a redline of 7500. However with a short 4.30:1 diff and light weight, the Corolla GT-S is better than most front wheel drive toyota cars we have today. It is rear wheel drive, has 4 wheel disc brake and a limited slip differential. Aftermarket support is also very strong and most mechanical parts that can be replaced can be found from various independent suppliers.

Just remember the most dificult part of GT-S ownership is finding one in the first place. It'll be extremely hard to find one in good condition and it will run you around 4000 dollars.

If I were in your position, I'd look into something more practical like the Miata Roadster or a CRX but thats just me.

[edit] I've seen some initial D episodes and I must say.. they do over hype the Corolla gt-s with bs driving physics. Drifting is actually slower then grip.. if you plan to drift with the car, i would advise against it unless you knew what you were doing.

Oh hush - go get a '98 Legacy Outback sedan like every teen driver should have. Josh wants one, just ask him.

I know of a great engine and aftermarket parts to throw on it :D. It is really a fun experience and a great learning project to do :D. It also has a realitively harder learning curve to learn to drive, but it will help out with all perspectives of driving and racing :D.

Seriously, I do. It's one of the best cars ever.

Here's a list of the rides I'd like to have within the next 5 years.

1.'98 Subaru Legacy Outback Sedan
2.'98 Toyota Supra Turbo
3.1987 Buick Grand National
4.1983 Plymouth Voyager B250
5. This one especially. Oooh yeah.

What's the best idea ever? To have every teen driver have a '98 Legacy Outback? If so, I agree. No teens, except myself, should have powerful cars.

She's Chris's - how the hell'd you find that picture anyway!? [/B]

Chris? Klostrophobic? Isn't he like 16-17? That chick is at least 21 for sure. Duh?

BTW- Damnit. She was supposed to be your girlfriend, or something, so it would piss you off. ****.

No - to make a sedan of the Outback.

In fact, some dealer in Connecticut came up with it.

Why the hell don't I have one?

Chris = rufrgt_sn00pie2001. The girl's 17.

Oh, I see. I thought this was an American girl, not some weird ass foreigner. All foreigners are 'weird ass' by the way.

He's Canadian. That doesn't count as foreign. The only thing weird-ass about him is his insistance on wearing that stupid toupee.

Which means 100% of the threads in which M5Power posts.

There's no chance of recovering a thread topic once Doug has posted in it.

Sidetracked? Me?

So my Rockies won today - 4-1 over the Dodgers, which is good since the Dodgers are second in the NL west and the Rockies are third. I'll be damned if they lose tomorrow night!

I'm forced to take on the task of purchasing a pickup within the next few months. But you know what? It's all good. Because I just saw an ad for the Toyota Tundra Terminator 3 edition - I can't wait until they're on sale.

Totally on-topic.

I swear as soon as I get out of California I'm buying a Terminator 3 edition Tundra. Extra badging, cooler wheels, and a hefty 6% markup.

Hey did you see the episode of Monster Garage where they modified a Tundra to carry a motorcycle in it's cabin? It was also capable of launching that motorcycle at speed by the means of a motorized door and ramp.

That's the one you need.

That's the only one I've seen, it was on during my roadtrip. They never launched it fast enough, though, in my opinion.

I agree. I mean they all said that they were gonna launch at like 80mph, but I think that pretty boy stunt guy got skerrd. He was such a pompus ass wasn't he?
