Trying to decide between the G25 and the DFP

I think the choice is obviously the G25, as it has more features and whatnot.

But still, the thing about it is that it's quite costly, while the DFP is not. I am very interested in it's paddle shifters as well as the H-shifter, and I'm also fond of the fact that it is easier to move the wheel.

The DFP on the other hand is much cheaper, which is a good thing, and also offers a gear lever, although only sequential. However, I do like that it has buttons on the wheel and that it has a pretty good design. What I don't like is that from the videos that I've seen of it, it appears pretty hard to move the wheel, taking more effort than the G25.

Honestly, I don't think that I'll even be using the clutch. To be quite honest, I'd rather get the DFGT, but I'd have order it online and wait while it gets to my location. With the DFP and G25, I can easily go to TigerDirect or what have you and just pick it up.

Can I get some input on what is reccomended? Also, how much harder is it to manuever the DFP than the G25?

I have the DFP, the force feedback strength can be adjusted or turned off entirely (by unplugging it from the mains...), the main complaints I have about it are the noisy motor and very light pedals, oh and the sequential shifter makes a stupid click sound a bit like a lightswitch when you use it, so I don't. Aside from that, it makes GT5p far more fun than just with the Sixaxis, and it's cheap so the issues I have with it are entirely justifiable by the price.

As much as I want a G25, I get the feeling the gear selector wouldn't be very fun to use if clamped to my desk as I have my DFP, mainly because the gearstick would sit quite high and I sit far enough from the wheel for my arms to almost be at full stretch, and so it would be quite hard to reach. In other words, as far as I can tell (only by looking at photos) it would be difficult to get the most out of the G25 without buying a racing simulator seat set up thing, which costs more than the wheel does.

However, I am considering upgrading to the DFGT when it comes out here, mainly for the quieter motor in the wheel and, I know this sounds stupid, the PS button in the middle. I set up my DFP so that I could use the quick adjustment menu with the R2 button (the one next to X, O, square and triangle) and the D-pad so the extra controls provided on the DFGT aren't essential to me, and the PS button is just a convenience, really.

Basically if you have the money and inclination to buy a G25 and a seat set up, get that. If you can wait a little while (well actually I have no idea how long), get the DFGT. If you just want a wheel and don't want to wait or spend a load of money, get the DFP. It's pretty good, especially if you've been using the Sixaxis all along and never, ever use a G25 or DFGT because then you'll just want to upgrade, probably. I know I would, anyway.

you could just attach the shifter to a table or something you don´t need to buy a complete cockpit. Though it´s highly recommended :)

As for resistance in the wheel the DFP is a bit more realistic in that regard though it´s not smooth. The G25 is not smooth either but because it has so little just about zero resistance with no force feedback applied it does feel a bit smoother.

I would suggest the fanatec 911 wheel though I think it´s much better then the G25 if you are after a realistic feeling. The wheel doesn´t jumps to center like it was on a rubber band and it´s much smoother to turn However it has stronger force feedback so you have to tone it down a lot if you really want a light wheel. The way I want my wheel setup I do get more resistance from the 911. G25 I always run 100 % force feedback and it still feels sloppy at times especially with small inputs. But really I would either get the budget option the DFP GT or the premium fanatec 911 turbo wheel. It´s a bit more expensive but well worth it. You need to buy a not yet released shifter holder to mount it separately as the G25 shifter though. I don´t have that much problem using it even if it´s as you say better to have it where you would in a real car.

A bit the same here the G25 H-shifter have almost no resistance and is a bit easier to use the fanatec require some force. The separate sequential feels about the same as the DFP one just louder.
