Welcome! This thread was created to be a central hub for all things TSR. Below you'll find a general guideline of what we do, what certain things mean, and a calendar of events that will be posted each month. Right now we will be doing events every Sunday, but can add more in the future if interest allows. Race times will almost always be 16:00 UTC / 12:00pm EDT / 9:00am PDT, except during seasonal time changes - times will be updated when that happens.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
- Sprint Races
- These events will typically run 1 to 1.5 hours in duration and will include a 30 minute practice session, a 12-15 minute qualifying session, and either a 20-30 minute race or two shorter races between 15-20 minutes.
- Endurance events will typically run 2 to 3 hours in duration and will include a 30 minute practice session, 15 minute qualifying session, and races between 1 to 2 hours long.
- Spec racing is exactly what it sounds like, and most Gran Turismo online racers will know of or have participated in spec racing. Basically, a car and tire compound are chosen by the race organizer with no other modifications allowed to the vehicle. Tuning is locked. This puts all drivers in equal equipment, and allows driver talent to shine.
- Parity racing is not used very often in online racing, so it is unfamiliar territory for most. The main benefit is that it allows participants to choose almost any car for the race, with completely open tuning with the only restriction being tire compound. To make the racing close, a minimum lap time is selected, where by drivers will tune their cars to stay above that lap time. This in turn slows faster drivers down, allows slower drivers to use more modifications to bring their speed up, and makes the racing much closer. Drivers are expected to tune their cars to stay above the given lap time, and penalties will be given for breaching that time.
- This one is exactly how you would expect it. Multiple races with drivers eliminated at the end of each race, then one final race with the remaining drivers for top honors. This may be used for Rally races or regular circuit racing to mix things up.
- Some races will allow for multiple classes of car to compete in the race at the same time. Each class will usually be separated by 5-10 seconds, depending on circuit length and passing opportunities. You can expect to see multi-classes used in Endurance Races, with Parity restrictions in place.
- For each race weekend, the type of race, circuit and vehicle selection (parity racing excluded) will be locked in by the race organizer. Voting will end at midnight the night before each race. Voting on which circuit will be used may come up from time to time. The following can be voted on:
- Race time change
- Weather
- Tire/fuel consumption
- Qualifying format
- Grid format
- Damage strength
For all events, we use the following room settings:
- Boost OFF
- Penalty NONE
- Grip Reduction REAL
- Visible Damage OFF
- Slipstream Strength REAL
- Nitrous PROHIBITED
- Skid Recovery PROHIBITED
- Active Steering PROHIBITED
- Active Stability PROHIBITED
- Driving Line AVAILABLE
- Traction Control PROHIBITED
- ABS AVAILABLE
- Each month the schedule of events for the next 5 weeks will be posted. You can find them below. As each weekend is completed, it will be marked off and we'll move on to the next. At the end of the 5 weeks, a new schedule will be posted. Weekends may be skipped for holidays and/or special events.
Every event will have a new thread posted in the Single Races & Time Trials section following the previous event. Look for the [TSR] logo to locate each thread.
