I've logged at least a hundred laps on this time trial with my MR2, but the best I can do is 1.16.605.

I'm looking for a sub 16.4xx setup. Anyone willing to share.

I'm also looking for dedicated TT grinders to share setups with on a regular basis.

Edit: apologies for the Tunes pretext.
Edit2: Before you ask: yes, I've used the setups I found in the garage database.

Can I ask what track your running at? I've got a Turbo MR2 set up, and a supercharged MR2 setup. Chuyler1 also races MR2's a lot. My tunes are both limited to 450PP, and I think Chuyler1 does the same, as he races at this PP bracket. I'm not sure if any other tuners have tuned the MR2 '86 on this site but if you use the search bar I'm sure you'll find something.

Its the Grand Valley East track. TT#10 '80s Japanese cars.

I choose one car a week and grind it to as close to perfection as I can in one of the time trials. This week its the MR2 L '86. I've tried about five setups I've found using search but none of them are for this track.

I know I'm lacking something in the setup (and my driving) and the best way I know how to improve is to take a tested and tried setup and adapt my driving style to it rather than trying to adapt the setup to my style. Then apply what I learned to my setup.

I would love to do this every week, sharing tunes back and forth. Kinda of a: "I took your tune and changes this and got a better time by .075. See what you can do with it."

My internet isn't steady enough (dang you Hughes net!) to do online racing and the a spec is so short. So this is my cure.

I know your pain with online play, I run shaky WiFi so I drop connection somethings, but more often I just can't even connect. I'm figuring out my tranny settings at the moment so maybe once I get those figured out it'll be better for you.

I'll see if I can give this a try in the next day or two. However all of my MR2s are tuned for 450pp on racing tires...which means I'll have to start from scratch since the TT is restricted to comfort soft tires...and I'll have to relearn the track. it's been a while since I've driven on comfort tires.

Excellent! Exactly what I'm looking for. As soon as I can try it out I'll let you know how it goes.

Good drift setup. For me it was a horrible time trial setup. Slippery when dry! My best time was seconds off. I'll keep at it to increase my car control skill but I can't see getting a better time with it. I need to break much sooner with your setup.

Try mine:
Upgrades: everything
Aero: max (20)
Trans: max 230 kph
LSD: 22/20/15
RH: -23/-23
Springs: 4.4/4.9
4/4

Was not sure if it would work for you or not, but no harm in trying it out. Like I said I ran a 15.8 some time ago with it, now I'm done and bored with that tt so on to something new.

Hmm, I doubt I saved it, but I was in the top 10 for quite a while so I can view it when I go to leader board 'my friends record' dealie. I'll have a look for ya, or I could run another one if not. It's no bother really.

I'll be back in a bit and let you know

This seems a bit extreme for comfort soft tires. You really need a soft suspension and i imagine such little travel would cause the tires to break free on even the slightest bump.

Surprisingly the bump problem doesn't occur. Even when single wheeling it through the pre tunnel S I have no loss of control and no appreciable loss of traction.

I'm still playing with the RH and spring rates, but two of my kids are home this week, so it looks like I won't get much GT5 time, two hours max a day.

Maybe there's a less harmful addiction I can pick up for the week. Heroin maybe? "Had a habit doin' drive line, watch the tyres burn." Sigh, not quite the same.

It mostly depends on driving style and personal choice tbh, and I didn't post that tune for critiques or any help with it, I posted it because the op was asking for a tune from someone who has actually ran this car in that tt and had some good results.

I don't have it mate, I'll run a few for you now though and get one posted here I'm not gonna brake my neck trying to catch my best time but I should be able to get a sub 16 pretty quick.

Is a 1'16.011 good enough for you?

Here it is then hope it helps 👍

The file is there and it works, you need to 'save' it in case you are only trying to 'open' it. Give me a minute and I'll edit this post with detailed instructions. brb

EDIT: Here ya go https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=176743 you need a pendrive formated by the ps3 or at least one with the proper file structure created on it. so you save the file from my earlier post to the pc or pendrive, unzip it into this folder: removable drive: ps3/savedata/replayfile. then save it on the ps3, then load the game and import the replay in the replay theater.

The tutorial is better but I hope you understand.

I was getting 1:17.1s and then decided to load up one of the top 10 MR2 ghosts. Both of them bounced off the wall to get quick times. Checked the top time, same thing. Eff that. Car tuning doesn't matter worth **** if the fastest way around the track involves crashing up against the guard rail.

Anyway, I basically ran the default settings for the Customizable suspension but added 0.5 camber for a little more grip. I could take turn 1 quicker than most of the top 10 times but the Mugen Civic obviously has more pick-up than my mr2

Well if I actually applied myself I'm quite sure I could get 1'15.5's or so, and yes the 1'16.011 I posted a replay for in this thread is squeeky clean as is the 15.8 I have on the leader board. Maybe if I feel up to it for some reason I'll give it a serious push before the deadline.

Running the ff civic is a much different story, of course you will be quicker in some places but slower in others and for sure slower overall. the eunos is faster then the mr2 laptime wise but is a boring drive imo for this combo.

Oh, and no the fastest way around this track or any track for that mater is not bouncing off the walls.

Yeah I only spent 30 minutes to get the 1:17. There is definitely more time to be had (without hitting the walls). With comfort soft tires I don't think changes to tuning are the problem. It's really about smooth application of gas and brake. I've never really spent time tuning for comfort soft though so I'm not really sure where to begin. I upped the LSD to accel 50 to remove wheel spin. Helped a little. Car likes to understeer on slow corners like the sharp left before the tunnel. Not sure if I'm approaching the turn incorrectly, going too fast, or if I can dial in more front grip.

For ****s and giggles I tried the N/A MR2 with a stage 3 turbo. It was only good for 1:18 after 5 laps and was much more susceptible to breaking loose the rear end because it runs constant high rpms. I figured that would happen but in my 450pp races the N/A is quicker on racing tires so it was worth a shot.
