Special Stage Route 5; 6 Lap Race

The Special Stage route doesn't have much room around the track: walls and guardrails are often pressed right up against the road. This might make it seem tougher. Speed is always a constant here. And a careful gauge of it is critical. Especially going into turn #1 after the long straight.

Almost didn't want this bike. Until I figured out that it was my fault I was always hitting the walls. Hope that with a 6 lap race it might force us to think about whether it pays to go with RS or RM.

I doubt I will do as well this Race as I suffer horribly from claustrophobia
I will do my best though, to do justice to the Beemer.

Good luck all !

Ran numerous runs last night. Every one resulted in a penalty or two. :banghead: Starting to hate the idiot who is running this series.

Poll added at top. :)

You can be glad it's not SS11 reverse :lol

Funny thing is most of the guys wish there were more tracks in TT. When PD pushed it out they included the standard ones with Valencia as an extra. But didn't include a reverse optiion on any of the tracks. I would have loved to run SS11 :) or maybe Complexstring from GT3  and a few others like Rome Night and Grindelwald. Plus some dirt tracks to properly use some of the bikes.

But we have what we have. As someone who has never riden a bike (unless a moped counts). It's still an extremely fun and challenging game. Have yet to see a video of somebody wallriding successfully. Really no way to do shortcuts and gain an advantage. The bike bogs down.

edit: Got a clean run in. Now I can take some chances.

edit: some motivation for us. Watch them all.

Well this is a challenge, but i think the BMW is suited to this kind of track, acceleration is important so is nippyness!

hi all :) hopefully this doesn't violate the AUP or tread on Oldmodelt's toes...

seeing as the GTF website where we used to do our TT mode challenges has
gone offline, i've decided to give my own webspace a go

i set it up last year but haven't as yet felt the need to use it

anyway, you're all invited to join in the RacerPaulsPlace Opening Challenge

hope to see you there 👍

Nope. The more the merrier. Now I don't have to link to it. 👍

Ran another session. Knocked off 2 secs. About the limit for me I think.

i haven't got a penalty-free run in yet, but i'm feeling ok about my pace so hopefully i can get it together before the deadline

its a great combo though, very challenging 👍

I'm glad I not alone in the penalty phase. Hopefully it is challenging :nervous: without being frustrating. :ouch:

Best lap in the low to mid 1'34's

G'Day all,

I have a time in the bank, but may give it one more run tonight 👍

I set my top speed to 192 mph, which is about where I am just hitting my top speed as I start braking at the end of the longest straight.
Keep in mind though that most of my entries onto the straight have been c**p :lol:

Best lap so far a high 1 ' 29.xxx but not during a completed legal race.
I am also trying mainly on RM as the RS do not suit me ( too many prangs towards end of Race :ouch: ).

Good Luck all.

After reading Viperin's post. Too low I'm afraid. Had it set at 180kph. Whines when I should be slowing down toward the end of straight. Will kick it up. But makes that 1st turn very tough. And Tosk. Notice that you use the front fender cam. I tried it because it's a lot like the bumper cam in GT4 but I could never tell where I was in the tuck process. And I do like the view with the gauges and all.

Times submitted.
Probably not be the best, but it is the sort of time I like a lot.You will see what I mean when results posted.
Very happy :)

Not sure if I picked the right vote option, I use the one where you can see the dash??

Times submitted, it is the only run I managed to get clean, I am hoping to not be on the bottom... again

You must have been hit the rev limiter half way thru the straight or was it 180 mph?

The hard tires work very well too.

So my question is:
How fast do the tyres wear out?

After 3 laps i don´t see any wear.

I can´t drive more than 3 laps in a row because my thumb hurts and falls off my hand :ouch:
I´m not used to this analog stick.

Why no time attack?
I don´t see any sense in doing the race mode because the opposition is passed half way thru the 1st lap.

In this series there is a mix of "Hotlap" time attack challenges and Race formats.
The Race formats add an extra dimension. The opposition need to be taken into account, as they are always there in case you throw it down the road.
Also the Race format enables the "Failure" system to be implemented ie slowing you down if you go off track or touch the AI.
Personally I like both formats.

Just getting back up to speed with TT after not having played since it came out. I look forward to the next challenge!
Thanks for the invite oldmodelt.

Working on results.

It was 180mph.

Mediums start to show their wear at 3 laps and are orange/red at 5.

Tried softs and both were toast at 3 1/2.

I switched to analog last year after my thumb started getting numb during the GTPLMS #4. The button is slightly faster but I can't play forever. Jump in a long race in the GTPLMS #5 and it will be second nature after this enduro. 👍

As Viperin said. Just a change of pace. Half and half. Cote is the other half.

Tosk. If you can see the dash it's the windscreen view.

edit: Results up. As always, videos are welcome. After looking at the results. I see that I was losing 2 secs. on the first turn alone. Times six laps that's 12 seconds. But I had problems controlling the bike slide at anything more than 180mph. Probably because I use the normal setup with just the analog for brake and accelerate function. Which prompted the new poll in the Cote d' Azur thread.

good going guys 👍 as soon as i saw a lap time mentioned early on in the event, i knew i wouldn't be winning this one :ouch: :D

Nice work everyone and welcome aboard New Racers 👍

I am chuffed I did so well, quite unexpected but I will happily accept the result !
I do like SSR5 and think I know my way around it so perhaps track knowledge helped ?
I should get a vid produced and uploaded sometime during weekend.

Later.

(btw - I liked my time because it is a Palindrome).
