I seriously had to create a thread just to rave about the tuned Elise 111R. The car is just a flat out blast to drive. I mean, it's almost ridiculous. I cannot get it to understeer.. I just can't do it. I dare say it's impossible. lol

Drive the tuned 111R for dozen laps around Eiger Nordwand and then switch to another car and give it some laps around that same track. It doesn't matter what car I switch to (save the F2007), it always feels slow, unresponsive/understeers, and I have to brake like an hour earlier at the end of the main straight. Its insane. My real dream car has been an EVO VIII/IX for the longest time. Now I just want one of these or an Exige.

Yeah the Elise is great. But it's a pain to get the right angle with the front wheels when using a controller. I always turn too much or too little.

Beware about buying an Exige, the brakes on the real car aren't as good. The game car's handling partially comes from a grip multiplyer, so don't expect to corner 20mph faster than anything else. Still, a Lotus would be a great car to own.

Yeah it is a very nice car/track combo, but i still find it very difficult to drive at the limit, most of the time i will find myself with lots of oversteer and losing time. What is your best time in time trial mode?? i remember i did something around 1:11 but it was only with a few laps and a while ago

Really? Have you driven/own one? The car is so damn light, I've always pictured it being an awesome car stopping-wise. But yeah, you're right.. as real as it is, GT5P is still just a game. Who knows if the car drives like that it real life.

My best time in arcade/time-trial mode is just barely breaking into the 1:08's. I can't remember the exact time.. I'll check when I get a chance.

I don't know why I'm so high on this setup right now. I think it's partially because I got a Logitech G25 & Playseat Evolution a couple weeks ago and everything seems more fun now. But even before I got the seat and wheel, the tuned 111R @ Eiger Nordwand was my favorite.

I love the 111R/tuned as well, I used to use it at suzuka 650pp and quite often keep up with GTR's. But saying that it's a very taily car and you always need to be concentrating otherwise you will spin for sure. I wouldn't mind to try it on eiger nordwand now.

I'm a little bit sceptical when I see people raving about those fantasy "tuned" cars, which all have pretty unrealistic driving behaviour and are closer to need for speed than GT. As the time goes by and tuner frenzy is gone, I'm more and more into factory cars. Spent most time in GT4 with Ruf, Zonda or BMW's on the ring. But that's just me :sly:

I agree with you... all three Elises are great little buggers! There must be something very right in this car, cause so many GT-nolifes like me, love that car and handling of it.

I recommend also you to test that 111R stock version too... you need to give it littlebit time, so you can 'forget' that tuned versions better handling and power. After that you really will love that version very much.

If you sometime have boring at job/school... here is some videos from our Lotus-festivals called StarWars-Event. Youre not alone with your passion to Elise!

I'm in a very similar situation. I've always seen the tuned 111R as an exige - thoough I don't know how true that is.

Around the UK they do "driving experiences" at some really nice UK tracks, the cars you can drive include an Exige - you get like 5 or 6 laps for £100 or thereabouts. It's really good fun, I had a go a month ago in an Impreza, 911 and V8 Vantage which were all amazing. I'm sure they'd offer something similar in the States.

Here's what Top Gear had to say:

If its too twitchy for you try adjusting the steering angle to a lower number... it helps.. :) 👍

And I dont think the tuning frenzy will EVER leave... if so I'm chucking GT out the window... tuning is one of the best things available in the game... nothing feels more rewarding then making a car that drives crap stock, drive like a RACE CAR... :) Or one that drives good already... drive EVEN better.. 👍

i have a real evo 9, and its really close in gt5p, i tried also to stay in 6th at 2800rpm and the game do the same kmh like in reality (near 110)... this game is really incredible... about 111r a car with 800kg and downforce must be similar to an arcade game:sly::sly:

Having same RPM, gearing and road speeds is a basic thing, not any evidence of perfect simulation. And yes, real cars are very good simulated in GT. But not those "tuned" fantasy pieces.

IMO, the Elises are bit too frantic to drive. I do like the original S1 model more than the newer or tuned one, but the absolute king of Lotus lineup as it is is the Evora. I swear that the car reads your mind and this executes all commands just the way you intended.:dopey:

I guess I'll have to spend some time on the track then.

You're on! lol

I actually played more tonight. My best time is now 1 minute 8 seconds flat. I wasn't connected to PlayStation network or whatever so it doesn't show up in the online records. :guilty: I can post a picture or something for proof though.

Really? I didn't like the Evora that much. I thought it felt big and sluggish (for a Lotus).

Unfortunately no, I'm just going by what I read in magazines. The cornering is way up their, but it doesn't have a huge lateral grip advantage like it does in game. Also, the brakes fade pretty quickly, and don't bite too hard. They may have addressed this in newer models though.

I guess since it is a "tuned" car, and no specific tuning is given aside from obvious wings, power boost, and weight drop, the car can be anything the developers want it to be. But looking at the physics at a whole makes me think it's not the only reason.

I wasn't really attacking the car as much as I was pointing out some of the flaws in GT's physics. Just in case PD happens to look at my post before an update lol.

Dude that 111R is bliss, i want to trade in my z06 for that beautiful piece of machinery! Yes, around Nordwand, the ONLY track I really enjoy in GT5P

Haha.. I'm the same way. Of course it has to be the one track that doesn't really exist. I try to like Suzuka and Fuji but I just don't find them as entertaining.

I'm just trying to hold on until the real GT5 drops, but I've got a serious craving for Tsukuba and the Nürburgring. :nervous:

If you love Tsukuba and the Nürburgring, you will almost certainly fall in love with Suzuka when you get enough into it. Just start with endless time trial and the track will get you.

On the other hand, I know Fuji completely now, every turn and every curb and still have mixed feelings, it feels like there are just few curves glued together and no natural flow for me, too artificial and predictive with those massive escape zones around.

I actually love muscling the bigger, more powerful cars around the Eiger. Z06, Ferrari 599 and Ford GT are all great fun around there, with the Corvette probably the easiest to drive consistently.

Eiger needs a rally car.

I hope Rally and Eiger don't make it onto GT5.

Circuits like that will always keep GT5 in the ''game'' zone.

Hah, me and every friend who has played prologue really LOVE Eiger! And we can't wait for its longer version, they already make the paths there.

It's the best "slow class"tuned car. Its flawless. Its agile as a F14 fighter jet. Its 2.0 liter toyoa engine is all i need to beat ford gt tuned's at suzuka. I get passed on straights but i make it up in the turns. Polyphony please make a real one for me.
