Look right at the top of this board, where there is a permanent thread called ///M-spec's Pocket Guide To Suspension Tuning. That's a place to start. Another thing to do is look around for a while, and browse through some of the older pages of topics. You can learn a lot by doing some research. Do a search for "transmission".

Let me also point you to some rules that will make your stay here at GTPlanet much more enjoyable for everybody:
  • No slang words that promote laziness, ie; "r", "u", "plz", etc.
  • Half decent grammar is expected. Use of capital letters
starting sentences is looked upon favorably. Spelling
    half decently is also encouraged.
Thanks for listening.

I blame the mobile 'phone industry - the text mad generation has serious problems with grammar, spelling, punctuation ... all the tools of communication actually (now is it just me or is that the height of irony (a tool of long distance communication destroying the ability to meaningfully communicate :D)).

Took a look at your site Famine .. it raised a genuine laugh or two (got some strange looks from around the office as I'm supposed to be working on substation I/O (a subject not reknowned for it's humour content :D)).

I particularly liked the entries regarding ASM and the "I've just seen 2F2F" response ...

The funny bits shouldn't distract from the fact that this is a fairly good distillation of all the tuning rules of thumb tho'.

In the past, I tried to produce something that would mathematically lay out the ratios of one setting to another and in the end had to admit that it couldn't be done as we are denied too much in the way of in-depth data on the cars.

So a broader brush that lays out the principles and aims of tuning was just what was needed (a good compliment to M-specs discourse held in this forum as a sticky thread).

:D Cheers guys... I was going for helpful, yet readable :D

Which bit about ASM? "The "stability" system is designed to help stop your car spinning. Unfortunately, it blows, bites, sucks and hums" OR "This setting should be OFF - always. It doesn't matter if you're a "pro" or a totally novice, using your tongue to drive."? :D

(I can't reprint the 2F2F response, obviously :D)

Pleased to see it actually IS helpful, to go with my warped humour :D

IMO your site link should be made a sticky....

as for the 2F2F response...i think it said...'please go away'

(or words to that effect)

Whoa... that's pretty bad.
This is the first person I've ever seen who is so lazy that he types 'b' instead of 'be'.

Not even a period.

I dont even really tune my cars, I just buy the parts and drop it as low as she goes. I should really start tuning them to get the best performance.
