Tuning for B-Spec BOB

Recently i set up the suspension, gearbox and diffs on an Audi TT touring car for the German touring Car Trophy. I really liked the way the car drove and blatted the opposition. So what you say that car has 700+BHP the others around 3-400 BHP...Well i liked the car so much i decided to take it the the Nurburgring for the 4 hour endurance...I car in the field was giving me a pretty good run and i was lapping around 7mins...Well to cut a long story short i had a good lead so i decided to put in my B-Spec M8 for a stint...Whilst i ate some dinner i watched the guy lapping faster than i could....Ive never seen him do that before and i put in what i thought were some pretty clean laps....To my question has anyone else found that the better they set up the car the better the B-Spec Bod drives?

You do have a good point and I think there should be something done:

Maybe in the future there could be an "A-spec tuning" and "B-spec". Each to suit B-spec bob and our driving style

Of course if you tune the car good B-Spec mode will follow. All B-Spec is doing is having the car follow a racing line, what ever the car does while following that racing line is pretty much your fault.

The Racing line B-Spec follows should be the same one you follow, because that is the best racing line for that track... most of the time...

I've never actually heard of B-Spec Bob being better than a real driver... My Bob could never, ever come anywhere close to my laps in any car. The AI simply is not as fast as humans. That's why you will always win a 100point race.

I think Cheezman is right about the programmed racing line Bob follows, but he certainly never follows it as quickly as we can.

Well, not in my experience anyway.

I would say, based purely on observation, it seems B-Spec Bob only goes at about 75-85% of the speed at which would be possible through corners and especially straights. Obviously though, B-Spec points will influencve the accuracy of Bob's lines, braking points, etc. Tuning wise, well i'm not really sure. i did a test with the FGT at the 'Ring where one run was with stock settings, and the other was with settings soley for the 'Ring. The track specific settings increased his lap times considerably (~20 seconds difference).

"He" probably never will be better, because "he" can't make split decisions like a real person, but the game just makes the car follow a driving line. But the physics of the cars don't change, so if you tune the car better and faster than stock, then B-Spec bob will be able to use them to "his" advantage.

And why the hell do we call "him/it" B-Spec Bob? And what if the B-Spec Bob that wears the full helmet and suit is really a female?

Well, look down on him/it from above in a Ford Model T or Daimler Motor Carriage, and if you can see any breasts we'll rename it to Bobbie

I have never ever encountered that Bob is faster than me around any track with any setting. Your lap must have had some flaws (bad raceline and/or too much wheelspin?). A calm, behaved lap with a stock TT touringcar on R1 tyres is under 7 minutes in my hands (and I´m by no means very good). I have no idea where I would end up with 300 bhp more on softer rubber, but probably at least 20-30 secs faster.
