I think it goes without saying, (maybe thats why all the garages in here forget to mention it) that one tune for a car does not work for every driver nor does it work well on all tracks.

I am not well versed in tuning, at least not as well as I would like to be. For example when a car understeers, I am not sure where to begin. Do I stiffen the suspension or soften it, do I increase the ride hight or lower it?

I am starting to take some time on the practice circuit with different cars and play with all the settings to see how the car reacts after changing something.

If I remember right and please correct me if I am wrong, but didnt some of the past GT games allow you to save setups?

This way I could set up, say, an R390 road car for Leguna Seca, then have another setup for Nurburgring and another for Le Sarthe.

I know that it has been rumored that the GT development team is working on making gearing a car possible again and hopefully the ability to save setups.

I will try to share whatever information that I learn on tuning with those that are also trying to learn how to correctly set a car up for certain tracks.

Valid point, but disclaimer regarding driving style is probably not required. I think everyone drives as fast as they can, but some do it more for the grace, others for the drift, others for the whiteknuckle rush. Personally I change my style per track, per car, and when I think I am getting settled, try to change something. I know there are ways to improve my driving just by practicing. The car tunes are the tuners' vision, they shouldn't be accompanied by an explanation as to what they drive like, though some guys will explain it. Driving the tuners cars their way tells you alot about their style, then if you learn enough, you can tweak it for your style.

The tunes posted should not need to have a disclaimer attached to them. This in my opinion is akin to burning one's self with hot coffee and then crying and whining about the damn temperature of it and then trying to sue the people that sold you the coffee because it was "hot"

Just my 0.02.

Well your points are very valid. but when it comes down to it, everyone has a different driving style and are looking to get something different of of the car they are driving.

Some wnat the car to feel the way it does stock. some want better handling, some like pure circit raceing as fast and stable as possible, some want the back end to step out a bit more for bit scarier drive, some want more tire conserveration for endurance races, some want set-ups for drifting, some want set-ups for drag racing.

Couple that with all the tracks and id have to do 200 seperate tunes for each individual car. LOL thats just not going to happen. So personally my tunes are set up for max performance on a circut track. Which the most speed, stability, hadling, acceleration, etc. all together. With all upgrades purchased and fully repaired. Ive noticed each tuning garage has an individual feel to their tunes and can vary as to there main objective.

Point being if there is a specific tune for a specific purpose, on a specific track, for a specific car that you want. Send a request to a garage that does requests but dont expect each garage to do 200+ tunes for each car for every possible situation.

Also I do agree that it would be a welcome change to have the abiliy to save set-ups, and well as be able to have more customazation in the ability to tune a car ex: (gear ratios, tire pressure, etc.).

I think the hard core tuning garages do a great job putting out fast tunes that work for their driving style and do a great job of describing how each little increment is intended to work in the game. What I always thought was missing was help in the tuning method. As said in the opening post, my car understeers, what do I do next? This question should be, what should I do first.

I have laid my method out there and I am hearing from a number of tuning rookies that they have been able to improve their cars and begin to go faster. A bit of self promotion, but I direct you to my garage, Motor City Tunes as a way to get you started with one method of approaching tunes. I received quite a few PMs from the formerly tuning challenged who have used my method to get started, then went back to the pro tuning garages and tuned for that last 5% of a lap time.

Let me know if this is useful or full rubbish. Just sharing my experiences.

I appreciate all the feedback guys, seriously.
I never really meant to imply that the tuning garages need to put up disclaimers, sorry that it came across that way.

I spent some time tuning/practicing with the BMW LMR12 and my eyes were opened up quite a bit.
Its not that easy, seems that everything you do, affects something else and a setting by itself really doesnt do that much.
I.E.
I turned down the LSD settings, all the way down. Did a lap or two, then reversed all the setting to the max and did another couple of laps. There was little to no change in the way that the car handled.
BUT... if I softened up the suspension and turned up say the LSD Acceleration sensitivity then there was a substantial difference in the way that the car felt, so on and so forth. But the suspension adjustments by themselves made the car feel slightly different, especially in corners.

I have a lot to learn and will use the tuning garages for information and education.
I am slowly learning all the ins and outs of this game, and so far its pretty deep.
