Tuning in Practice Mode

Last night, while fiddling with my '71 Mustang and swapping exhaust systems, I noticed something odd about making changes to the car in practice mode. I had begun the session with this pattern: drive, stop, save replay, swap a part, and then drive with the new part installed. I was doing this to check the differences among the various exhaust packages.

After a few iterations of doing this, I decided I did not need to continue saving the replay after each driving session. So, I'd stop, change a part, and then get back to driving only to realize that the changes I was making were no longer making a difference in the sound coming from my car (I was only working on exhaust sounds).

So, I changed the routine by exiting fully from practice mode after each parts swap. I would leave and go out to the choose track screen and then re-enter. Basically, I was forcing the game to auto-save and recognize that I had changed parts. At least, it seemed to me that was what I was accomplishing.

What I'm getting at after all this rambling is that I had expected the game to recognize newly installed parts without me having to leave the practice session or do something to force the game to account for changes I had made to the car. Does what I have described make sense? Has anyone else encountered this? Am I missing something really basic that would save a bunch of time?

I actually noticed this too, but strictly for exhaust audio. All other technical changes seem to register just fine... Just set up your car the way you want regardless of this glitch and when you go into the next race or practice, you'll be all set.

Cheers

I've done some extensive tuning in practice mode and my customizations stick without exiting and going back in... exhaust however I noticed that installing it once you've entered a race the sound doesn't switch while the horsepower increases as desired... either way though I can't say for sure.
