Tuning Mistakes in "Ultimate Car Guide"?

I found that table in p.167 about the suspension settings for technical courses contradicts what were written in p. 157. I think shock absorber(Compression) should be weak for front and strong for rear, while the spring rate should be weak at front and hard at rear. Am I right?
I am a newbie of tweaking cars. I don't know whether I am right or not. If I am wrong, please kindly teach me why the settings is needed in page 165. Thanks!

The spring rate is almost exclusively higher in front than rear.

I wonder how well modeled this is. I know that in my IRL Car, the rears should be stiffer then the fronts due to the motion ratio being in the 0.6 - 0.8 area, which means that your spring rate of 10k KG is a 6k - 8k KG wheel rate, which is what you're after. Wheel rates should be harder in the front, but since wheel rate =/= spring rate, you have to think about what you're actually going to set it as.

At least in real life :P.

Click on the link in my signature for a nice set of free (GT Planet) tuning guides.

The first of which covers suspension and brake tuning, they were written for GT4, but are fine for GT5.
