Tuning the suspension does?

I'm at a stand still really. All these different tunes for drag racing and every time I try tuning it myself, changing the suspension never really makes a difference. My latest try was with dodge ram for the 1/4 mile. I first started with stock suspension and tuned in the transmission. I was able to range the top speed from 145 - 180 and it would top the 1/4 mile out with 140mph. Any other tuning I did with it would still just go up to 140mph right at the same spot.

So I picked what I felt was the best tune, good long 1st gear so it pulls off the line nicely and short other gears. I tuned the suspension every way possible from mild to extreme tuning it. For about 3 hours trying different possibilities. It just would never go past 140mph. Now its not just this I found it to be, its with any other car. It never really seemed necessary as long as you didn't purposely tune it to lose its traction. Ford GT, never noticed a difference from stock to a supposedly good suspension tune for traction. What am I missing here? I've tried tuning both online and offline.
