it has a lot of info....i'm just learning about turbo.....could anyone tell me what it can do for performance on an everyday driver.......what does it do to an econobox on Gas mileage.:boggled:

If you have a massive turbo on your car, it would spool up later and then come on at a massive pace, which means the power would be there higher in the rev range, which means you use more gas.

If you have a small turbo, it spools up quicker and all the avaliable power is there at a lower rev range, which means using less gas.

So the trade off between large and small turbos are fairly equal, go large and have lots of power + speed but use lots of gas, or go small and have a little less power + speed, but increased drivability.

so on my everyday 97 honda civic it would probably be better to go with small turbo. cuz you know that my civic get 36 mpg and i don't really want to ruin that....what would you say would be my new GAS MILEAGE after small turbo.....p.s. thank you for all the turbo info

ya....but....i am still interested i might be able to do it later this summer...i just dont want to ruin the drivability...but i would like the extra power....does anyone know what it does to gas mileage and drivability?

Well with mroe power, comes less gas mileage, its something that you can't really avoid, but if it's just a small increase in power, it shouldn't affect mileage all that much. A 50HP increse would be sufficient, whereas a 100HP increase would really cost you in the gas area.

ya thats true.....but there are a lot of upgrades that can increase both GAS MILEAGE AND HP given that you can stay off the pedal with your new power...lol.....Do you think it's possible to even things out with products that increase gas mileage and then add turbo that may decrease Gas mileage...that way a plus and a minus = zero.....lol just a thought;)

Theres always the possiblity of have a torquey engine, which develops low down torque which you can use to accelrate instead of waiting for the turbo to spool.

ya its nice that an everyday driver can eccelerate really fast....on the streets you dont need to get up to 230 mph. although i wouldnt mind if i could
